Father: Asst. Supt.<strong>of</strong> Telegraph.<br />

2nd Lt. 15th London Regiment (86/15).<br />

Reported as having been wounded and now taking up his commission (90/17).<br />

Died, aged 22, on 10th September 1918, serving with 2/2 Bn. London Regiment.<br />

He is commemorated on Vis-en-Artois Memorial, Bay 10, Panel 8.<br />

Benson, D. (Donovan)<br />

Member <strong>of</strong> Signalling Course 1909 on behalf <strong>of</strong> ‘F’ Company.<br />

Pte., 4th Troop, B.Squadron, Westminster Dragoons, Army <strong>of</strong> Occupation, Egypt. (83/14).<br />

Wounded while serving at the Dardanelles, was hit in the jaw by a bullet, which passed<br />

between some sandbags. Being invalided home he arrived at Exeter on September 9th,<br />

and underwent an operation on the 27th.<br />

He is now convalescent at Honiton, and has happily almost recovered. (86/15).<br />

Was wounded at Gallipoli, has since recovered, and has been<br />

gazetted to a lieutenancy in the 4th South Staffordshire’s - his late brother’s regiment. (89/16).
