• Suppress jet producti<strong>on</strong> in HIJING<br />

– Do not sample Q 2 >100 GeV 2 hard scattering<br />

– Suppress l<strong>on</strong>gitudinal string fragmentati<strong>on</strong><br />

• produces 10 -2 jets per event with E T>50 GeV<br />

– Fake rate from correlate background fluctuati<strong>on</strong>s<br />

– Modificati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> k T jet shape<br />

• These issues can <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> need to be overcome by careful study<br />

from data for jet rec<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> to become st<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>ard in heavy<br />

i<strong>on</strong> collisi<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

• Underst<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>ing <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the underlying event is crucial to<br />

underst<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>ing <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> performing jet rec<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong><br />
