Body-for- Body Switch Procedure: All body-for-body switch and reassignment requests must be
submitted to Student Affairs at least 4 weeks before the rotation start date.
Orientation for the first Monday:
Students from ALL SITES will begin orientation on the first Monday at UIC. A final email with
orientation day details and schedule will be sent by Liz Walch the Wednesday or Thursday
before Monday's orientation. Please contact Liz only if you haven't received the email by the
Friday before orientation.

Medical Student Office staff coordinators listed above or your rotation will automatically be
canceled.

ADDRESS/LOCATION

SITE ORIENTATION DAY
Students are asked to report to the Medical Student Office located on the 6th floor of the South
Building by 9:00am (unless otherwise noted in reporting instructions email). Orientation day -
students will be meeting with the Medical Student Office coordinator and an Ob/Gyne resident
as well as attend a Hospital scrub session. Students will begin their actual rotation schedule on
the following day. Students should have their white coats with them at all time.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Chicago Northwestern train to Park Ridge station Pace Suburban Bus System from CTA
Rosemont and Cumberland ‘El" stops and from the Park Ridge Metro station.
ACCESS/PARKING
2 blocks East of I-294
Free parking is available on the North Side of Dempster on any open surface lot.
The garage directly in front of the hospital is $8 per day.
Do not park in any lot that needs a token, is gated, or barricaded
CLINICAL ROTATIONS
Each student spends two weeks on obstetrics, two weeks on gyne and two weeks on a clinic
rotation at various sites.
CALL SCHEDULE
Students will either be scheduled for 2 night calls and 1 week of night float or 3 night calls during
their rotation. This will include at least one weekend call. Call hours may vary due to duty hour
compliance and the rotation schedule. Students may be scheduled for call the first Wednesday
evening of their rotation.
HIGHLIGHTS/UNIQUE FEATURES
The student lectures are given in small group format including 5-6 students per attending
lecturer. Several formally prepared case discussions are held with the chairman and clerkship
director. The students have ample opportunity to work with attending physicians in a high
volume ob/gyne service. Since Lutheran General is a regional tertiary care referral center,
students are able to observe and participate in a wide variety of advanced gyne surgical and
complex obstetrical cases.
RESIDENT/ATTENDING INVOLVEMENT
The chief resident of each respective service is responsible for the medical students, including
evaluations. These evaluations are done in consultation with other members of the service,
including attendings, who have worked with the students. Ten lectures are presented to the
students by faculty during each clerkship. A resident and/or attending physician always

supervises the students.
AMENITIES
Students are provided with free outdoor parking.
The hospital offers a medical library with the appropriate texts, journals, and equipment.
A 25% discount on food purchased in the cafeteria, on the tenth floor.
Meal passes are provided when taking call.
Students are provided lockers.
Additionally, student may purchase a one-month membership to the Fitness Center for $23.
