This intensive six-day course is designed to provide a comprehensive review for practitioners of the clinical, molecular, and<br />

pathophysiologic basis for the diagnosis and treatment of neoplastic diseases and benign hematologic disorders. Primary emphasis<br />

will be placed upon the broad area of medical management. Recent advances in molecular genetics, clinical pharmacology, epidemiology,<br />

and supportive care will be stressed. Teaching will be primarily through lectures, panels and case discussions with the assistance<br />

of appropriate visual aids. Multiple opportunities for interaction between the members of the faculty and the audience will be<br />

made available. A comprehensive syllabus will be provided. Participants will be invited to present challenging cases to a faculty<br />

panel in a special Wednesday evening session.<br />

OBJECTIVES<br />

At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to:<br />

• appreciate the use of molecular genetics as a means of defining families at high risk for the development of cancer.<br />

• understand recent advances in the management of benign hematologic disorders.<br />

• choose among multidisciplinary management options in breast, head and neck, genitourinary, and gastrointestinal cancers.<br />

• apply these principles to his/her individual practice.<br />
