The SBA is a federal agency that offers technical,<br />
regulatory, and financial support for small businesses.<br />
The SBA illinois District Office offers free or<br />
low cost counseling, advice, and info on starting a<br />
business through the Service Corps of Retired<br />
Executives (SCORE). Also, financial assistance for<br />
new or existing businesses through guaranteed<br />
loans made by area bank and non-bank lenders<br />
and assistance to businesses owned and controlled<br />
by socially and economically disadvantaged<br />
individuals through the Minority Enterprise<br />

ACCION Chicago is a non-profit organization dedicated<br />
to providing credit and other business services<br />
to small business owners who do not have<br />
access to traditional sources of financing. Many of<br />
ACCION’s clients do not have access to traditional<br />
bank loans. Because of the small size of their loan<br />
request, lack of or poor credit history, they cannot<br />
obtain the credit they need to grow their businesses.<br />
ACCION Chicago provides this credit and helps<br />
small business owners to increase their incomes,<br />
create new jobs and strengthen their communities.<br />

The Asian American Alliance is a not-for-profit<br />
small business advocacy organization committed<br />
to assisting Asian American, minority, nonminority,<br />
women-owned small and disadvantaged<br />
business owners in Illinois. The Alliance<br />
was incorporated in 1994 as a result of collaborative<br />
efforts by the Chinatown, Korean, Philippine<br />
and Vietnamese American Chambers of<br />
Commerce. The mission of the Alliance is to<br />
increase the economic potential of small businesses<br />
by providing technical knowledge to<br />
entrepreneurs through training, vendor development,<br />
