The SBA is a federal agency that offers technical,
regulatory, and financial support for small businesses.
The SBA illinois District Office offers free or
low cost counseling, advice, and info on starting a
business through the Service Corps of Retired
Executives (SCORE). Also, financial assistance for
new or existing businesses through guaranteed
loans made by area bank and non-bank lenders
and assistance to businesses owned and controlled
by socially and economically disadvantaged
individuals through the Minority Enterprise
Development Program.

ACCION Chicago is a non-profit organization dedicated
to providing credit and other business services
to small business owners who do not have
access to traditional sources of financing. Many of
ACCION’s clients do not have access to traditional
bank loans. Because of the small size of their loan
request, lack of or poor credit history, they cannot
obtain the credit they need to grow their businesses.
ACCION Chicago provides this credit and helps
small business owners to increase their incomes,
create new jobs and strengthen their communities.

The Asian American Alliance is a not-for-profit
small business advocacy organization committed
to assisting Asian American, minority, nonminority,
women-owned small and disadvantaged
business owners in Illinois. The Alliance
was incorporated in 1994 as a result of collaborative
efforts by the Chinatown, Korean, Philippine
and Vietnamese American Chambers of
