field goals, including a 42yarder,<br />
against Thiel.<br />
Game Summary<br />
Grove City won the 25th annual clash<br />
for the Mercer County Cup in the season<br />
finale at rain-soaked Thorn Field. Thiel<br />
jumped out to a 7-0 lead but Grove City<br />
countered with a 16-play, 60-yard touchdown<br />
drive. Quarterback Andrew<br />
DiDonato caught a touchdown pass<br />
from wide receiver Stephen Mercer, tying<br />
the game at 7. The Wolverines took<br />
a 14-7 lead in the second quarter in more<br />
conventional fashion as Mercer hauled<br />
in a 19-yard touchdown pass from<br />
DiDonato. Craig Bicehouse drilled a 42yard<br />
field goal on the final play of the<br />
first half to extend the lead to 17-7.<br />
Grove City has now won 16 of the 25<br />
Cup games, including two straight. Thiel<br />
and Grove City had not met in the season<br />
finale since November 14, 1970.<br />
