For this issue of “A Pictures Worth,” we
spotlight The Koa Store. This unique business
specializing in highquality Koa wood products has
it all. Locally manufacturing at its Puhi shop, Kevin
Carl, left, and Joe Neil, right, work alongside their
skilled counterparts making and assembling an
assortment of products, such as picture frames,
jewelry boxes, clocks and specialty gift items such
as soap boxes, sushi sets and chopstick boxes.
They opened their first outlet store in Kapa’a in
1994, than moved in 2005 to their present
location in Kapaia, near the Wailua Falls turnoff in
Lihue. However, for this issue, we are featuring
their newest store on Koloa’s main street, a few
doors from Sueoka Store.
With this store, Kevin and Joe relied on proven
highefficient ceramic metal halide flood lighting,
already incorporated at the Kapaia store in 2005.
In addition to that, T5 fluorescent lighting was
incorporated. The overall combination of lighting
really shows off the beautiful wood grains of the
Koa products.
Kevin and Joe have thoughtfully planned the
best way not only to display their products, but
minimize their energy cost. With the assistance of
the KIUC Energy Wise Program, they were able to
keep their investment cost down.
Thanks, Kevin and Joe, for your continued
support of Kaua‘i’s energysavings goals.
Help stop the disappearing forests
and needless destruction of the world's
trees and wild life. No plastic, no paper.
