accommodation
Young Options College offers
residential services within
registered homes that are
small, homely and designed
to ensure that the children and
young people in our care feel
nurtured and secure. The homes
offer both separate and mixed
accommodation for boys and girls
and varying degrees of support
that is flexible to our students’
changing needs.
We work with new students
to devise person-centred
programmes that address their
individual social, behavioural,
psychological and emotional needs.
Individual behaviour management
programmes are also implemented
to help students learn how to take
responsibility for and manage their
own behaviour and emotions.
Students access local community
facilities for leisure and social
activities, which not only increases
opportunities for learning but also
enables them to experience a
sense of belonging and increased
emotional wellbeing.
In addition, the homes offer waking
day learning environments so that
students are able to learn practical
life skills such as cooking, laundry
and shopping. This helps them
prepare successfully for a more
independent future.
Education
Young Options College is a DfE-registered school which provides individualised
education programmes, access to the National Curriculum and a wide range of
vocational subjects. The College divides the teaching year into eight terms of similar
length with frequent breaks, to help the students stay focused on their learning.
At Young Options College, we believe
that education should be delivered in a
way that is most appropriate and most
conducive to the individual learning
needs of the students. Many students
arrive having experienced multiple
placement breakdowns and with little
experience of formal education, and as
such we offer both intensive and small
group teaching.
Our detailed assessment and induction
processes enable us to assess
students’ individual learning styles
and plan their learning targets in
partnership with them.
As well as offering nationally accredited
courses such as GCSE, AQA Entry
Level Certificates and Units, ASDAN,
CLAIT and BTEC Vocational Skills
qualifications, we run practical activities
on site that promote the development
of life skills.
