The Plann<strong>in</strong>g Commission of Powhatan County will meet on Tuesday, July<br />

6, 2010, at 7:00 PM <strong>in</strong> the Powhatan County High School Auditorium, 1800<br />

Judes Ferry Road, to consider the follow<strong>in</strong>g requests:<br />

ZONING MAP AMENDMENT REQUEST<br />

10-03-REZ. David & Nancy Moyer (Smith’s Crossroads/P<strong>in</strong>eville Electoral<br />

District) request a rezon<strong>in</strong>g from A-1 Agricultural to A-2 Intensive<br />

Animal Confi nement District. The purpose of the rezon<strong>in</strong>g is to allow expansion<br />

of an exist<strong>in</strong>g poultry operation to house <strong>in</strong> excess of 30,000 lay<strong>in</strong>g<br />

hens. Pursuant to Article 6 of the Powhatan County Zon<strong>in</strong>g Ord<strong>in</strong>ance, a<br />

rezon<strong>in</strong>g from A-1 Agricultural to A-2 Intensive Animal Confi nement District<br />

is required when the keep<strong>in</strong>g or rais<strong>in</strong>g of poultry exceeds 300 animal<br />

units, or 30,000 lay<strong>in</strong>g hens. The Comprehensive Plan designates the subject<br />

property as Low Density Residential (Future Land Use Plan Map) <strong>in</strong> a Rural<br />

Preservation Area (Land Use Policy Map). The subject property is 513.45<br />

acres <strong>in</strong> size and is located at 4315 Old River Trail. Reference to Tax Map<br />

Parcel #7-1B.<br />

CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT REQUEST<br />

10-03-CUP. Kathi G. Holly (Bethesda/Lee’s Land<strong>in</strong>g Electoral District)<br />

requests amendment of an exist<strong>in</strong>g conditional use permit (CUP) for a private<br />

kennel <strong>in</strong> the R-2 Residential District per §8.9(8) of the Powhatan<br />

County Zon<strong>in</strong>g Ord<strong>in</strong>ance. The purpose of the request is to allow the Applicant<br />

to <strong>in</strong>crease the number of dogs that may be kept as pets from 6 to 10.<br />

The Comprehensive Plan designates the subject property as Low Density<br />

Residential (Future Land Use Plan Map) <strong>in</strong> a Rural Preservation Area (Land<br />

Use Policy Map). The subject property is located at 3200 Three Bridge Road<br />

and is 4.61 acres <strong>in</strong> size. Reference to Tax Map Parcel #28(2)B3.<br />

AMENDMENT TO THE ZONING ORDINANCE<br />

An Ord<strong>in</strong>ance to amend §30.7, Review by Plann<strong>in</strong>g Department and Government<br />

Agencies, of the Powhatan County Zon<strong>in</strong>g Ord<strong>in</strong>ance. The purpose of<br />

the amendment is to add a new Subsection 6 that would require a revised site<br />

<strong>plan</strong> to be re-fi led with the Plann<strong>in</strong>g Department with<strong>in</strong> six months of the<br />

date that the site <strong>plan</strong> is denied by Plann<strong>in</strong>g Staff <strong>in</strong> order for the revision to<br />

be considered part of the orig<strong>in</strong>al application. Revised <strong>plan</strong>s fi led after six<br />

months could only be accepted by Plann<strong>in</strong>g Staff with a new application and<br />

payment of new review fees.<br />

Copies of the proposed <strong>plan</strong>s, ord<strong>in</strong>ances, or amendments may be reviewed <strong>in</strong><br />

the Department of Plann<strong>in</strong>g and Community Development <strong>in</strong> the Powhatan<br />

County Adm<strong>in</strong>istration Build<strong>in</strong>g between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM of each<br />
