“Find your passion in
life and let that love pull you
toward success.”
This was a quote that
stuck with a lot of students
who attended Dr. Bill Moore’s
motivational presentations at
Pfeiffer University. Students
looking to find success in a
sport, a hobby, or life in
general were given the
chance to soak up
information Dr. Moore
usually charges hundreds of
dollars for.
Bill Moore, a Pfeiffer
alumnus, is now a
performance psychology
consultant who works with
professional athletes,
musicians, and performing
artists. He shared his
wisdom with Pfeiffer
students in a series of
motivational speeches. The
themes of his presentations
ranged from ‘Playing life
with passion’ to ‘Playing to
win with others’, all with the
goal of finding the best way
to overcome your personal
obstacles. Whether you’re a
professional athlete or
musician trying to overcome
anxiety and perform under
pressure, or simply looking to
improve teamwork and
productivity, Dr. Moore can
help you.
NEWS
TAKING IT TO THE NEXT
Moore’s presentations
provided participants the
opportunity to discuss the
mental and emotional aspects
of performance while sharing
ideas for helping students
prepare for performances,
enhance self-confidence and
develop better concentration
during performance. The
sound of pens hastily jotting
down information was all
that could be heard besides
the voice of Dr. Moore.
Evidently students realized
this was information worth
noting.
“I think the biggest
thing I took away from his
presentations was to commit
yourself to the process of
getting better instead of the
results that may or may not
come, and that having a
passion for the things you do
in life can be more fulfilling
than if you’re successful,”
junior Thomas Sennett said .
“I felt like he was telling me
that you can have a lot of
talent but to take it to the
highest level you have to be
completely consumed in it. I
found myself more inspired to
find the love I have for the
sport.”
LEVEL
LOOKING FOR ‘MOORE’ PERFORMANCE?
DR. BILL MOORE CAN HELP
“I thought the
presentations were done in a
way that allowed the
students to really connect on
a personal level with Dr.
Moore,” junior Chad
Nicholson said. “Dr. Moore
obviously had a very
accomplished resume and the
insights he gave on how to
better yourself and your
performance in your sport
made a lot of sense.”
“You shouldn’t fear
failure, you should embrace
it. Belief in the process, the
steps you’re taking in order
to reach your goal is perhaps
the most important thing,”
Dr. Moore said. “It’s
important to be pulled by the
love of your sport instead of
being pushed into it by a
friend or family. You have a
free will choice to be
confident or not.”
Dr. Moore’s goal is to
give you the tools to create
your own success.
“The most important
thing you can do for yourself
is be a good self coach.
Support yourself when you’re
down, reward yourself when
you’re doing what you want.”
