Jane Rhoades: “My husband and I live
in Southern California and have one
adult son and two granddaughters in
Missouri. We continue to serve in training
and member care in Africa under Youth
With A Mission, so I want to focus my
research on multicultural missions
training in Africa.”
Sao “Susanna” Sio: “I am from Hong
Kong. I am the 5th kid of 9 children at
home. I would like to do my research
work on intercultural team building and
dynamics from a Chinese perspective.

with my husband and three children in
East Asia. My research interest is in
the area of women serving crossculturally
and how to encourage and
help them bridge the gap from effective
homemaking towards fruitful ministry in
their communities.”
Doctor of Missiology
Lisa MacEwen: “I was born and raised
in Korea but have lived in the U.S. for
the major part of my life. . . . We are
missionaries with Cru (a.k.a. Campus
Crusade for Christ). We have served in
a restricted-access country in East Asia
and are now serving in Singapore. My
husband is a faculty member at East
Asia School of Theology, and I minister
there as well. We have an eight-yearold
daughter. We are truly an
international family: I am Korean, my
husband is American, and our daughter
is Chinese (adopted). My research
interest is in Intercultural Mentoring.”
Francis Nwobu: “My name is Francis
Chukwudozie Nwobu, and just as the
Apostle Paul was a Hebrew and a
Roman citizen, I am an Ibo from
southern Nigeria and an American
citizen. My wife's name is Clara, a
missionary like me and an RN . . . we
have 4 children. My first born,
Emmanuel, is 29 and a veteran who
served in Iraq. Our daughters are
Goodness, 27 and a physics graduate
in a master's program; Faith, 24 and a
biology graduate, pursuing a master's
degree in Public Health; and Victory,
21 and attending Cerritos College. My
research interest includes an
empathetic response to the prosperity
gospel in southern Nigeria.”
