Up and Running: A Basic REAPER User Guide 6.6 Mixer Shortcut Key Assignments By default, Ctrl M can be used as a shortcut key to open and close the Mixer view. In addition, most of the commands on the Mixer’s right-click menu can be assigned keyboard shortcuts of your own. Any of the following actions can be assigned to your own shortcuts: Mixer: toggle docking in Docker Mixer: toggle tracks with receives grouping to left Mixer: toggle folder tracks grouping to left Mixer: toggle show normal top level tracks in mixer Mixer: toggle tracks with receives in mixer Mixer: toggle show tracks in folders in mixer Mixer: toggle show multiple rows when space Mixer: toggle show multiple rows even when space to fit tracks in less rows Mixer: toggle show master controls on right side Mixer: toggle show pan controls on top Mixer: toggle show sends if space available Mixer: toggle show FX inserts if space available Mixer: toggle show folder tracks in mixer Mixer: toggle scroll view when tracks activated Keyboard shortcuts are assigned via the Keyboard / Control page of the Options, Preferences window. How to create and assign keyboard shortcuts is explained in several places in this User Guide, for example in Section 2.8, Section 4.6 and Section 4.7. 6.7 Mixer Colour Themes The topic of customising colours for your various screen elements is covered in detail in Section 10 of this User Guide. Meanwhile, you might wish to note that the following mixer-specific items can be assigned your custom colours by displaying the Options, Preferences window and the selecting the Colour Theme settings page: Mixer FX text normal Mixer FX text bypassed Mixer FX text offline Mixer sends text normal Mixer sends text muted. In addition, you can change the colour settings for your VU meters, and specify whether you want the display to be interlaced. VU meter clip indicator VU meter top VU meter middle VU meter bottom VU meter interlace/edge colour Click on any colour shown that you wish to change to open the Colours window. Don’t forget to Apply your changes when finished. 142
Up and Running: A Basic REAPER User Guide 6.8 Master Track Options and Settings The Master Track Control Strip in the mixer includes most of the functions that are found in the Master Track when it is displayed in Track View. Again, the main exception is that the Envelopes window cannot be opened directly from the Mixer. Examples of the available functions and features are: Left click on the Output button to toggle between Stereo and Mono modes. Right click on the Output button to select any one of four available Mono options (see right). Left click on the FX button to display the FX Chain for the Master. Right click on the FX button to open the Add FX window. If the FX Bin for the Master is displayed (as in the examples Mixer 2 and Mixer 3 that we looked at earlier), then you can use all and any of the Mixer Shortcuts detailed in section 6.5. Right click over the VU area to display the various settings that you can use to control what is displayed in the VU and how it is displayed (see right). Available options include: Whether to show Peak plus RMS, or one or the other only. Window size. Display offset level and Display gain level Red threshold level. 6.9 Master Hardware Outputs Output from the Master can be directed to one or more of your available hardware outputs. The easiest way to select multiple hardware outputs is probably via the Routing Matrix. In addition to this, there are some very clever features available in the Master which will help you to manage and control your output, especially if you are using multiple hardware outputs. The I/O button merits a special mention for the way it can be used to set up and manage your hardware output or outputs. Right click on the I/O button to display a menu of all available hardware output options. These can be toggled on and off in any permutation that you require. Left Click on the I/O button to display the Master Track Outputs window. This can be used to control the levels and panning of the signals that are being sent to the various output devices.
