REID OzAkI AND COMPANy
Remember the teacher who changed the way you see the
world? For many ceramics students, Reid Ozaki has been that
teacher. For this exhibition, Reid shows his own work in the
company of his former students. Reid Ozaki and Company
corresponds with the National Council on Education for the
Ceramic Arts (NCECA) conference, Seattle, March 25-31.
Reid will give a gallery talk on Saturday, March 3.
Last year the street, this year the floor! BAC’s exhibition galleries may be closed for a few days in April while our
new floors are installed, but our retail gallery will remain open.
We’re using this opportunity to present Schmoozing with the Jewelers. Please drop by the gallery to meet
more than a dozen artists who’ll be making ornamental sculpture in a variety of materials and methods. They’ll
bring lots of work available for purchase – much more than we can usually show. Please join us for this fun, free,
and timely event. (Mother’s Day is just around the corner!)
Artists include Joanna Beachy, Kristin Carman, Annie Huntley, Poppy Knopf, Carolynn Lancaster, Barbe Martin,
Michele McCarter, Shane Miller, Shirley Moss, James Powell and Glynn Schultz, Lisa Rona, and Passiko True. If
you want to be sure to talk with a particular artist, please call us at 206.842.3132 to check their schedule.
What started in 2002 as a “seconds sale” has grown into a huge annual sale of perfectly beautiful
jewelry, paintings, ceramics, glass, photographs, and prints. Artists take home 65% of the sales, and in
this economy, that’s great income boost.
global migration routes on
vintage gloves.
HATS
You could invent the story
of someone’s life just by looking at their
hats. In this show, seven artists look at hats as fashion,
personality, and biography. Artists include Amy Williams d’Apice,
Pam BergLundh, Karen Buhler, Linda Costello, Mary McInnis, Julie
Paschkis, and Deborah Peek.
Every year for decades, we
have taken time out of our
exhibition schedule to show
the community beautiful art
made by Bainbridge Island
kids. Over the years we watch
individual artists continue to
develop, and some of them
go on to become our artists.
This month, as always, we also
give away two scholarships to
graduating seniors.
