approval <strong>of</strong> the faculty <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong> in order to be granted a degree in pharmacy.<br />
Academic Probation: <strong>Student</strong>s with cumulative grade point averages below a 2.00 in required pharmacy<br />
course work will be placed on academic probation for one semester. The student must attain a 2.00<br />
cumulative grade point average in required pharmacy courses at the end <strong>of</strong> the probationary semester or<br />
he/she will be dismissed from the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong>. <strong>Student</strong>s may petition the Academic and<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Standards Committee for an extended semester <strong>of</strong> academic probation.<br />
Academic Dismissal: <strong>Student</strong>s with cumulative grade point averages below a 2.00 in required pharmacy<br />
course work as defined by a cumulative grade point deficit <strong>of</strong> 10.5 or greater will be dismissed from the<br />
<strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong>. <strong>Student</strong>s who do not meet the requirements <strong>of</strong> their academic probation will be<br />
dismissed from the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong>. <strong>Student</strong>s who have been placed on academic probation for the<br />
third time will be dismissed from the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong>. <strong>Student</strong>s may petition the Academic and<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Standards Committee for extended probation or for readmission to the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong>.<br />
Dean's Honor Roll: <strong>Student</strong>s who achieve a 3.5 grade point average in required pharmacy course work<br />
attempted in a semester will be recognized on the Dean's Honor Roll in the Office for <strong>Student</strong> Affairs.<br />
Each student will receive a congratulatory letter from the Senior Associate Dean for Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Affairs.<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s must take at least 12 semester credits in order to qualify. <strong>Student</strong>s with E, I or H grades are not<br />
eligible for the Dean's Honor Roll.<br />
Graduation with Cum Laude: Completion <strong>of</strong> all pharmacy coursework in the Doctor <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong><br />
curriculum. A grade point average <strong>of</strong> 3.50 or higher in required pharmacy courses.<br />
Graduation with Magna Cum Laude: Completion <strong>of</strong> all pharmacy coursework in the Doctor <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong><br />
curriculum. A grade point average <strong>of</strong> 3.60 – 3.79 in required pharmacy courses. Completion <strong>of</strong> a project,<br />
submission <strong>of</strong> a report, and presentation via adherence to <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong> guidelines. Approval by<br />
the student’s supervisor, the supervisor’s department chair, and the Graduate Studies Council.<br />
Graduation with Summa Cum Laude: Completion <strong>of</strong> all pharmacy coursework in the Doctor <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong><br />
curriculum. A grade point average <strong>of</strong> 3.80 or higher in required pharmacy courses. Completion <strong>of</strong> a<br />
project, submission <strong>of</strong> a report, and presentation via adherence to <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong> guidelines.<br />
Approval by the student’s supervisor, supervisor’s department chair, and Graduate Studies Council.<br />
Affective Expectations<br />
Affective expectations encompass ethical, behavioral, and emotional considerations that reflect the way<br />
that pharmacy students should act while undergoing pr<strong>of</strong>essional education and training. Specific<br />
behaviors expected <strong>of</strong> pharmacy students are described below. These behaviors are consistent with<br />
meeting the pr<strong>of</strong>essional standards for meeting graduation requirements and meeting the mission<br />
statements for the UF <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong> and the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Florida. Other types <strong>of</strong> behavioral<br />
violations <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong>'s <strong>Student</strong> Conduct Code are listed later in this document under the section on<br />
Violations and Sanctions.<br />
• Cooperate with the orderly conduct <strong>of</strong> classes. <strong>Student</strong>s should respect their peer's right to learn.<br />
This expectation includes, but is not limited to, the following types <strong>of</strong> behaviors: refrain from<br />
conversations while the instructor is making a presentation; do not gather materials to leave the<br />
class until the pr<strong>of</strong>essor has completed his/her remarks; be on time for the class; do not leave the<br />
class during lecture unless a reasonable circumstance prescribes this action (e.g., illness); refrain<br />
from making disrespectful sounds during lecture (e.g., hissing); refrain from distracting activities<br />
during class (e.g. reading a newspaper, eating, drinking beverages, etc.)<br />
• Respect faculty, staff, and peers with appropriate, and courteous communications in verbal,<br />
written, and electronic communication formats (e.g., address faculty by their pr<strong>of</strong>essional title<br />
either doctor or pr<strong>of</strong>essor, refrain from pr<strong>of</strong>ane messages or comments, utilize appropriate<br />
English language in email messages or other written assignments using approved grammar and<br />
spelling, refrain from gossip, etc.).<br />
