It is Deleum’s top priority to safeguard the<br />

environment and society at large, in which<br />

we place utmost adherence to our HSE<br />

slogan, “Collective Responsibility towards<br />

HSE Excellence”. In line with the Group’s<br />

objective of creating a culture of safety,<br />

we make every effort to further improve<br />

our standards and procedures, as well as<br />

to ensure the application of best practices<br />

in QHSE management throughout the<br />

Group. The Group also believes that every<br />

employee takes stewardship in improving<br />

their health and safety performance. Thus,<br />

every employee has a commitment and<br />

duty to ensure that our established QHSE<br />

policies are being adhered to at all times.<br />

Deleum constantly participates in several<br />

HSE forums and conferences organised<br />

by customers, business partners and<br />

relevant authorities and also conducts<br />

regular training, HSE programmes and<br />

activities to keep our employees up-todate<br />

with the latest safety mechanisms<br />

and technology. Amongst the internal<br />

HSE programmes and activities conducted<br />

during the year included the following:<br />

(qhSE)<br />

HSE Campaigns were held at the Group’s<br />

head office and all other operating units<br />

in various locations, during which various<br />

HSE activities were organised to<br />

emphasise the fundamentals of creating a<br />

safe and conducive workplace and living.<br />

Deleum continued to encourage all<br />

employees to practise a healthy lifestyle<br />

through several Group wide HSE<br />

Campaign programmes such as talks,<br />

and presentations on road safety and<br />

crime prevention, amongst others. A<br />

blood donation drive was also held. In<br />

order to inculcate safety behaviour at<br />

workplace, employees were also educated<br />

and trained in identifying workplace<br />

hazards and emergency preparedness<br />

skills through various Emergency<br />

Response programmes and Fire Prevention<br />

and Fighting programmes.<br />

MONThLY SAFETY BULLETIN<br />

Monthly safety bulletins were disseminated<br />

to all the employees in order to highlight<br />

the fundamentals of HSE good practices<br />

at workplace, homes and other surroundings.<br />

Apart from that, employees were<br />

encouraged to participate in energy saving<br />

and to support initiatives on environmental<br />

issues such as recycling programme to<br />

create a more sustainable planet.<br />

SAFETY MEETINgS<br />

It is absolutely vital to constantly review<br />

and continually improve the Group’s HSE<br />

management and measures. Safety<br />

meetings were held on a regular basis<br />

to review the Group’s safety performance<br />

and statistics, annual QHSE Plan update,<br />

incident investigation reports, mitigation<br />

and incident prevention measures, STOP<br />

Card analysis, workplace audit and<br />

inspection report, and QHSE policies.<br />

hSE MANAgEMENT SYSTEM AUDIT AND<br />

REVIEW<br />

Periodic audits of the HSE Management<br />

System are undertaken at the operational<br />

facilities. In addition, new processes will<br />

be implemented to further enhance the<br />

system by the HSE Committee.<br />

EMPLOYEE TRAININg<br />

We recognise the importance of safety<br />

training for the employees to ensure that<br />

the necessary measures to prevent<br />

injuries and accidents at the workplace<br />

are taken. Periodic HSE training and<br />

seminars were conducted to inculcate<br />

safety culture among Deleum’s employees.<br />

QHSE Briefing<br />

AWARDS AND REcOgNITION<br />

Deleum continues to drive a culture of<br />

Zero Tolerance to accidents by instilling<br />

commitment, ownership and collective<br />

responsibility in employees to create a<br />

safe working environment. In 2012, the<br />

Group received various awards in<br />

recognition of its outstanding performance<br />

in HSE excellence which, amongst others,<br />

included the following:<br />

• Best contractor Performance in<br />

conjunction with SCM-Contractors<br />

Management Sharing Session from<br />

PETRONAS Carigali Sdn. Bhd. (PCSB).<br />

• goal Zero Achievement Award for<br />

achieving 1,620 days without any<br />

recordable incident from Sarawak<br />

Shell Berhad.<br />

• certificate of Appreciation in<br />

conjunction with SWI 1 Million Manhours<br />

without LTI celebration from<br />

PCSB.<br />

• highest AcT/BOT Service company<br />

contributor in conjunction with SWI<br />

1 Million Man-hours without LTI<br />

celebration from PCSB.<br />

• Active AcT/BOT Participation Award<br />

from PCSB.
