1. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS<br />
Please refer to HPUK General <strong>Requirements</strong> <strong>VCP</strong> 7.2.1.154 for lining stamp, swing tickets, shoe boxes<br />
and restricted substances information.<br />
2. UPC/SKU/PRICE LABELS<br />
2.1 Shoe labels – supplied by Greshams/HPUK.<br />
• A self adhesive label must be attached neatly and centrally to the sole in the waist of each shoe<br />
(see Figure 1).<br />
• Where the sole material is not suitable for adhesive labels these labels are to be attached neatly to<br />
the quarter lining.<br />
2.2 Shoe box labels<br />

• The <strong>Littlewoods</strong> Store Pack Label must be affixed to the top of the shoe box lid (see Figure 2).<br />
• The article reference numbers on the <strong>Littlewoods</strong> Store Pack labels do not contain any reference to<br />
the Hush Puppies UK style/colour numbers. Please refer to the <strong>Littlewoods</strong> Customer Reference<br />
Number chart supplied by the Hush Puppies Merchandising Department (see Figure 3 for example<br />
of label).<br />

2.2.2 WWW UPC Label<br />
• The WWW UPC shoe box label must be affixed to one end only in the bottom right hand corner.<br />
(see Figure 2).<br />
• The label must be positioned in such a way that the lid does not cover any part of the label.<br />
• The size refers to the size the shoes have been ordered on the Purchase Order. Other sizes shown<br />
are conversions.<br />
• Some labels may be produced without a line drawing. These should be used unless otherwise<br />
advised by HPUK Merchandising.<br />

3. SHIPPING CARTONS & PACKING<br />
3.1 Carton requirements for footwear<br />

• The standard size of carton for Hush Puppies is shown in figure 4. The size is 670mm long x 330m<br />
wide x 330 mm high.<br />
• The carton should be constructed as a four flap case with the ends and bottom creased to allow flat<br />
storage after use.<br />
• Bottom flap to be printed ‘OPEN OTHER END’.<br />
• The cartons must be sealed with tamper evident packing tape in an “H” pattern on top and bottom.<br />
The tape should be at least 50mm wide, extending at least 100mm down each side. The following<br />
methods must NOT be used:<br />
- metal bands<br />
- plastic strapping<br />
- string<br />
- flaps glued together<br />

• The board specification must be adequate to avoid crushing or collapsing of cartons and the<br />
following is recommended:<br />
- Kraft lined 1.25mm solid board<br />
- 150 Kraft outer / B flute / 150 Test inner<br />
The maximum final weight of each packed carton must not exceed 15 kilos.<br />

• Shoe boxes must be packed in cartons with the box-end labels upper-most and visible when<br />
opening the top flaps.<br />
• Each carton must contain shoes of one stock number only (style-colour number).<br />
• Each carton must contain shoes of one size only.<br />
• For pre-packed deliveries you should devise the most suitable method of cartoning bearing in mind<br />
that the carton must be filled to prevent crushing.<br />
• Where the number of shoes does not fill the carton, empty shoe boxes must be used, clearly<br />
marked ‘EMPTY’, to prevent the carton collapsing when stacked.<br />
• For each PO refer to the WWW packing list outling exactly what should be packed in each carton<br />
and which carton label should be attached to the carton.<br />
4. SHIPPING CARTON MARKING<br />

Apply the WWW barcode carton label (license plate) to the lower left corner of longest side. The lower<br />
edge of the label should be between 2.5cm and 5cm from the bottom of the carton and the left edge of<br />
the label should be between 2.5cm and 5 cm from the side of the carton. WWW license plates are not<br />
required for First Cost type orders.<br />
4.2 Carton markings<br />
• Markings must be stenciled on opposite sides in lettering at least 1.5cm high.<br />
• Main mark: LITTLEWOODS (in diamond or triangle), final destination (ship-to) address, Customer<br />
PO number, WWW Internal Reference number, stock number, number of cartons, country of origin.<br />
• Side mark: Customer PO number, style name, stock number, colour, total number of pairs, size &<br />
width or size run & quantities, number of cartons, net & gross weights, and measurements.<br />
5. PACKING LIST<br />
For each purchase order, a complete packing list itemized by carton is to be attached to the lead carton<br />
(carton #1). The envelope containing the packing list must be clearly marked as “Packing List<br />
Enclosed.” Packing lists must include the following information:<br />
• PO number<br />
• WWW Internal Reference number<br />
• Carton numbers<br />
• WWW stock number(s)<br />
• Color(s)<br />
• Sizes & widths<br />
• Quantity per carton<br />
• Total quantity per SKU<br />
• Weights & measurements<br />
See FORMS – <strong>VCP</strong> 7.5.1.10 for an example of an acceptable packing list format.<br />
