Often the most critical area affecting the success or failure of the urban tree is below ground. All<br />
too often trees are planted into cramped planting pits in poor subsoil. Tree roots require space,<br />
nutrients, moisture and oxygen to thrive.<br />
The RootCell system has been developed following consultation with landscape architects, local<br />
authorities and leading tree experts. The concept is simple – RootCells provide a load bearing<br />
structure preventing the soil from becoming compacted and lifeless.<br />
These plastic rigid skeletal interlocking ring RootCells are manufactured from recycled HDPE<br />
each cell being 250 x 250 x 100mm. Their loading capacity is 80 tonnes per square metre for an<br />
evenly distributed load.<br />
