UK Implementation
• Eurocode suite allows National Annexes
– Effectively all now published
• Fully available for use in the UK
– Building regulations in UK are “open”
• England, Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland
– BS EN standards are British Standards
• Eurocode 3 is BS EN 1993
– BS standards (eg BS 5950) are superseded
• Withdrawn by BSI but still in use
– “Only” 20%(?) using Eurocodes for buildings
Wider Implementation
• All new UK highway works to Eurocodes
• Public works generally all Eurocodes too
• Generally higher usage in Europe
– Some countries relying on English version
– Some legal issues have caused delay
– Transition a s t o not ot yet co complete p ete in Ge Germany a y
• Some adoption elsewhere
– For example, Singapore and Malaysia
