Summary: Road trip melodrama set in the contemporary U.S. One of the youth<br />

films of the 1960’s which reflects the attitudes and longings of a generation.<br />

Two motorcyclists (Fonda and Hopper) travel across the U.S. in search of<br />

the ‘real’ America against the background of the Vietnam War. Along the<br />

way they encounter people from big cities and small towns, a hippie<br />

commune, and drugs and sex in a New Orleans bawdy house.<br />
