ConnectJustice, a UK based organisation specialises in transnational issues <strong>of</strong><br />

social and political conflict with a focus on innovative research, evaluation and<br />

training. In a world where violence, insecurity and injustice can permeate our<br />

interconnected lives, there is nothing so potent as the power to understand<br />

context, engage people, and transform conflict. Social and political conflict<br />

can arise in numerous forms and places: within and between communities, in a corporate or institutional setting,<br />

between states and their citizens, and transnationally. ConnectJustice works with its clients to better understand<br />

forms <strong>of</strong> conflict, to engage all parties, and develop sustainable, just solutions. Our unique approach combines<br />

academic excellence with extensive practitioner experience and is informed by our strong ethical framework and<br />

Since 2013, Zubeda is a co-director <strong>of</strong> a newly formed company called ConnectJustice. Her other experience is:<br />

• Extensive experience in project and programme management, strategic planning and project delivery using<br />

PRINCE 2 methodology and qualification. • Enjoy the challenge <strong>of</strong> undertaking and delivering on projects that<br />

are seen as risky and involve stakeholder engagement with partners across different sectors. • Over ten years<br />

experience delivering local and national objectives within budget and a confident international conference<br />

speaker. She has extensive expertise developing and managing <strong>Europe</strong>an projects. Examples include: •<br />

Birmingham City <strong>Council</strong>’s project lead for a three year EU FP7 programme called “Combating Inequalities<br />

through Social Practices <strong>of</strong> and for Young People in Cities across <strong>Europe</strong>” (SPYCE) alongside 13 partner cities.<br />

(UK, 2013-16) • Designed and commissioned a 6 month course in collaboration with<br />

Birmingham City University/Birmingham School <strong>of</strong> Media called “Media Skills workshops”<br />

where invited community members attended bespoke workshops which involved media<br />

companies e.g. BBC, local radio, newspapers and bloggers. (UK, 2007-10) • Country<br />

representative on the “A worldwide view <strong>of</strong> <strong>Europe</strong>: Does Migration shape our perceptions<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Europe</strong>, with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon, Jan 2010) • UK<br />

representative on the British <strong>Council</strong>’s Intercultural Dialogue Africa programme. I was also<br />

commissioned to write the ‘Taking Stock and Moving Forward, An Evaluation <strong>of</strong><br />

Intercultural Dialogue in Africa’ report for the British <strong>Council</strong> (Uganda/Ghana/UK 2007-9)<br />

The Association <strong>of</strong> Free Radio (BFR - Bundesverband Freier Radios) is an<br />

association <strong>of</strong> non-commercial radio broadcasting initiatives in Germany. Free<br />

radio stations are self-determined, open media, in particular for the unknown and neglected in<br />

words and music. The members <strong>of</strong> the Federation to operate non-commercial, grassroots,<br />

democratic society broadcast that deals critically with the existing social conditions. The BFR organized the joint<br />

development (media) policy objectives <strong>of</strong> free radio stations and program content and broadcast forms. The<br />

CMFE was founded in 2004 to strengthen the participation <strong>of</strong> the “Third Media Sector” in <strong>Europe</strong>an discussion<br />
