Driven by the ever-vigilant and singularly-focused Key event Chair,
Gail Jackson Miller, and her phenomenal Key Event Committee,
the Key Event became the Foundation’s most successful fundraiser
to date raising more than $120,000! With more than 460 people
in attendance, the cocktail party was rockin’ with guests vying for
highly sought-after auction items such as tickets to “Dancing with
the Stars;” a dinner party for 12 hosted by The Speaker of the House
John A. Boehner and his lovely wife, Debbie; plus trips, condos
and a dinner hosted in the State Capitol by Carolyn and State
Representative Bill Coley. Of course, the highlight of the evening
were the dinners prepared by local chefs in the 25 Host Homes.
Following dinner, guests traveled to the Alderson home to mingle,
compare notes and dance to the music of the Modulators.
Each year the Community Foundation hosts
two signature events…The Community Golf
Classic and the Key Event. During these
tough economic times, the generosity of this
community is especially sweet. On August 2,
we held our 11th annual Community Golf
Classic raising a record $61,000 to benefit
the Foundation. Our applause and
gratefulness to the generous support of all
of our loyal business sponsors and in-kind
donors with special thanks to the returning
Presenting Sponsors North Ridge Realty
Group and Clark-Theders Insurance
Agency, Inc. The event, with golf at both
Wetherington and Four Bridges Golf Clubs,
went off flawlessly under the leadership of
the Golf Committee Co-Chairs Rick Prinz
and Dan Winterhalter and their ever
supportive Committee and dedicated
volunteers. A great day was had by all…
especially the 180 dedicated Golfers who
are the backbone of the event.
