PVH CORP. ANNOUNCES LANDMARK AGREEMENT WITH COALITION OF NGOs AND<br />

BANGLADESH LABOR UNIONS ON FIRE AND BUILDING SAFETY<br />

PVH is the initial company to commit to this first-of-its-kind program<br />

New York, NY - PVH Corp. [NYSE: PVH] announced today that it has ente<str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>d into a <str<strong>on</strong>g>Joint</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Memorandum of Understanding with a group of n<strong>on</strong>-governmental organizati<strong>on</strong>s c<strong>on</strong>sisting of<br />

Clean Clothes Campaign, Worker Rights C<strong>on</strong>sortium, The Internati<strong>on</strong>al Labor Rights Forum, and<br />

Maquila Solidarity Network, as well as a group of eight internati<strong>on</strong>al and <strong>Bangladesh</strong>i trade uni<strong>on</strong>s,<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>garding fi<str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g> and building safety in <strong>Bangladesh</strong>’s appa<str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>l factories.<br />

The ag<str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>ement <str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>cognizes the need for the <strong>Bangladesh</strong>i government, the <strong>Bangladesh</strong>i Ready-<br />

Made Garment (RMG) industry, brand owners and <str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>tailers, and labor to work together to c<str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>ate a<br />

safe and sustainable work envir<strong>on</strong>ment within the <strong>Bangladesh</strong>i RMG industry. The ag<str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>ement<br />

establishes a two-year program to be led by a multi-stakeholder task force for the purposes of<br />

establishing an in-factory training program; facilitating the c<str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>ati<strong>on</strong> of factory health and safety<br />

committees; <str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>viewing existing building <str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>gulati<strong>on</strong>s and enforcement; developing a worker<br />

complaint process and mechanism for workers to <str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>port health and safety risks; and advising a<br />

Chief Inspector.


The Chief Inspector will design and implement a fi<str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g> safety inspecti<strong>on</strong> program based <strong>on</strong><br />

internati<strong>on</strong>ally <str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>cognized workplace safety standards. The Chief Inspector will also di<str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>ct and<br />

oversee the various other elements of the program.<br />

The program, which will be financed by the participating companies, will go into effect when at<br />

least th<str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>e other well-known internati<strong>on</strong>al brand owners or <str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>tailers sign <strong>on</strong>to the ag<str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>ement. PVH<br />

has committed up to $1.0 milli<strong>on</strong> to underwrite the program.<br />

PVH and the other participating brand owners and <str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>tailers will identify the RMG facilities they use<br />

in order to implement the various aspects of the program and will also <str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>qui<str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g> these facilities to<br />

c<str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>ate health and safety committees to <str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>duce illness and injury. If a facility fails to <str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>mediate high<br />

safety risks or implement other aspects of the program after efforts of the companies, then, as a<br />

last <str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>sort, the companies will move producti<strong>on</strong> to a qualified, safe facility in <strong>Bangladesh</strong>. Efforts<br />

will be made to protect the workers displaced (if any) as the <str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>sult of the move of producti<strong>on</strong>.<br />

PVH has committed to using good faith efforts to advance the purposes of the ag<str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>ement <strong>on</strong> its<br />

own if other brand owners and <str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>tailers do not join the ag<str<strong>on</strong>g>re</str<strong>on</strong>g>ement.<br />
