2 General information<br />
2.4.12 Cooling<br />
If the thermal rating of the gear unit is not sufficient without additional cooling measures,<br />
the following may used:<br />
• Fan (independent of direction of rotation) on the drive shaft for 2- and 3- stage gear<br />
units. (See chapter 5.5.1). For gear units with fans on the input shaft, make sure that<br />
there is enough space in the axial and radial directions to allow for a sufficient supply<br />
of cooling air.<br />
• Integrated water cooling cover up to size 210, integrated water cooling cartridge for<br />
3- and 4- stage gear units. The water cooling cover may be combined with any lubrication<br />
types (see chapter 5.3.2 and 5.5.3).<br />
• A combination of a fan and a water cooling cover or cooling cartridge.<br />
• An oil supply system with an oil/water or oil/air heat exchanger.<br />
2.4.13 Motor connection<br />
SEW-EURODRIVE can supply the following variants with the gear unit:<br />
• Motor adapter with an elastic coupling for attaching IEC (B5) / NEMA ('C' face) motors<br />
(see chapter 6.4). The motor adapter may optionally be designed with a fan.<br />
• Steel construction as motor swing base and base plate (see chapter 6.5): Comprises<br />
gear unit + steel frame, as well as the necessary components such as input and<br />
output coupling, drum or disk brake, AC motor and protection guards.<br />
• Motor bracket with V-belt drive: Includes motor bracket, pulleys, V-belt and belt<br />
guard.<br />
• Motor scoop, including AC motor, coupling and protection guard.<br />
2.4.14 Backstop<br />
The gear units may optionally be equipped with or without coupling (see chapter 6.3)<br />
2.4.15 Condition monitoring<br />
A variety of optional equipment is available for condition monitoring:<br />
• PT100 temperature sensor (see chapter 7.1):<br />
For measuring the oil bath temperature<br />
• SEW DUO diagnostics system (see chapter 7.3):<br />
For monitoring the condition of the oil in the gear unit<br />
• SEW DUV diagnostics system (see chapter 7.4):<br />
For monitoring vibration of bearings and gears<br />
• Electrical oil level monitor on request<br />
