Games<br />
Prerequisite(s): ENG-260; GAM-220<br />
In this class the student learns the essence of good<br />
storytelling and explores the process of writing stories<br />
for games. Included in this course are character<br />
development concepts, plot development, interactivity<br />
and branch points. The classic dramatic arc is<br />
examined along with a discussion of the 36 dramatic<br />
situations. Also included are methods and techniques<br />
for conveying story elements in games via visual and<br />
audio queues.<br />

This course is an overview of basic design principles<br />
and the considerations involved in design/visual<br />
communications theory and gaming– making meaningful,<br />
creative visual messages presented for information,<br />
identification, persuasion and entertainment use. The<br />
course introduces techniques of conceptualization,<br />
design, and production that can be applied to general<br />
visual communications and applications commonly<br />
used by professionals in the design industry.<br />

and knowledge necessary to translate a concept into a<br />
three- dimensional form. Included in the study will be a<br />
familiarization with the history of sculpture and the use<br />
of materials such as clay, plaster, wood and metal to<br />
understand form and content.<br />
