There were no women interned from the Naliooal Unity Party, an umbrella<br />

orpnization made up <strong>of</strong> several domestic Fascist orpnizabons, including Quc:bc:c:'s<br />

N.S.C.P., WiMipea:'S C.N.P., and Toromo's ean.dian Union <strong>of</strong> Fascists (C.U.F.),<br />

This was despite the fact that the Stile was supposedly fi&htilll Fascism. There were<br />

several women elltremely active in the N.U.P., includina Yvonne Arcand. wife <strong>of</strong><br />

N.U.P. leader Adrien Arcand. The IDe opced DOt 10 iDla1l Yvonne Arcand. despite<br />

the fact lba1 she oontinued to bold N.U.P. meetings after her bllSband was interned.<br />

Perhaps the reasonina: behind this, other than :I. wife supportina: her husband. was that<br />

the N.U.P. memben were <strong>of</strong> Canadian srock. therefore not u likely. according w the<br />

lOC. fa commit ttaSOnous activities. For Germans aDd Italians it was a case <strong>of</strong><br />

divided klyalty between their country <strong>of</strong> origin and their adopted coulltry' but dlere<br />

was no such pull (or French and Enalisll-Canldian Fascists.<br />

The IDC drew disdrx:tions between ilS 'enemy aliens'. the most notab'e one<br />

heine between European CftCmy aliertl, Germans and Italians. and Japanese enemy<br />

aliens. While German and h.lian intemea: were reviewed on a case-by..case basis the<br />

same cannot be said for Japanese enemy aliens who faced relocation or internment ell<br />
