Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Stone, age
91, of Waterville, passed away
on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at
Community Memorial Health
Care in Marysville.
Betty was born April 17,
1921, at Delta, Iowa. She graduated
Valedictorian from
Ainsworth High School in
Orel Roever
Orel Roever, 98, of
Marysville, KS, died
Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at
Cambridge Place in Marysville.
Visitation was Friday, April
Gail E. Jones
Gail E. Jones, 64, died
Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at
the Jefferson Community
Health Care, Fairbury, NE.
Iowa and received her Teaching
Certificate from Iowa State
Teacher’s College in Cedar
Falls. After teaching several
years, she married her high
school sweet heart, Maurice J.
Stone, on March 9, 1946.
Together they raised their family
in Burlington, Iowa where
Maurice was employed at The
Iowa Army Ammunition Plant
and Betty was a homemaker.
In the 1970’s they were transferred
to Amarillo, Texas.
Upon retirement, Betty and
Maurice moved to Waterville.
Betty was a member of the
Waterville United Methodist
Church where she was active in
Sunday School. She was a former
member of Toastmasters,
as well as several book and
writing clubs. Betty also had a
lifelong interest in music, piano
27, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at
Kinsley Mortuary. The family
received friends from 6 to 8
p.m.
A funeral service was held at
10 a.m., Saturday, April 28 at
Zion Lutheran Church,
Hanover. Rev. Jill Menard officiated.
Mae Nieman played the
organ while Wayne Kruse sang
“Precious Lord Take My
Hand”, “Because He Lives”
and “On Eagles Wings.”
The pallbearers were Jeff
Cumro, Mike Reves, Greg
Brown, Billy Thompson, David
Frohberg, Daniel Frohberg,
Douglas Frohberg and David
Cedarberg.
A funeral service was at 10
a.m., Monday, April 30 at the
Presbyterian Church,
Washington. Pastor Marilyn
Sweet and Sister Marilyn Wall
officiated. Gay Lynn Manning
was pianist and Dr. Jim Smart
sang "There's a Song in the Air"
and "How Great Thou Art."
Burial was in the
Washington City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jim Jones, Jay
Peters, Glenn Bekemeyer, Greg
Bekemeyer, Dale Kohlmeyer
and Robb Kohlmeyer.
Honorary bearers were Pete
Peters and Jim Jones Jr.
Gail was born at Concordia,
KS, on March 4, 1948 to Henry

Jeanne S. Long and husband
Russell of Birmingham,
Alabama and Sally S. Henry

six grandsons: Matthew
Rumbler, Andy Henry and
wife, Amy, Luke Henry and
wife, Laurie, Brian Henry and
wife, Julie, Eric Henry and
Tom Henry and fiancé, Jessica
and by six great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death
by her husband Maurice in
2003 and by her parents, Bud
and Ruth (McMullen) Shearer.
A viewing will be from noon
to 8:00 pm, Sunday at Terry-
Christie Funeral Home in
Waterville. Betty’s family will
receive visitors at the funeral
Burial was in the Hanover
Cemetery.
Orel was born November 8,
1913 at Hull, KS. She attended
school at Beattie and Carden.
On January 27, 1932 she
married Henry Roever.
Together they farmed north of
Home and later Waterville until
1958.
Orel worked at the radio factory
in Marysville, operated the
Hanover Locker at Hanover,
and volunteered at Boogarts in
Marysville for fifteen years.
She was a member of Zion
Lutheran Church and the
Moose Lodge. She enjoyed
dancing, playing cards and
making ceramics.
“Butch” and Thelma
(Kohlmeyer) Tegethoff. In
1965 she graduated from
Washington High School. In
1966 she graduated from
Brown Mackie Business
School.
On February 15, 1969, she
was united in marriage to
Harold Jones, Jr., at
Washington, KS. They farmed
and ran a trash service in
Jackson County and then at
Woodland Park, CO. She raised
numerous breeds of dogs while
on the farm near Wetmore. In
2002, they moved back to
Washington and operated Jones
Trash Service and farmed. She
also worked as a secretary for
Lohrengel Tax and Accounting
and for Farmers Insurance.
Gail was a member of the
Presbyterian Church in
Washington and was involved
Lancy Boyd Davis, II
Lancy Boyd Davis, II died
April 16, 2012 near Milford,
KS at the age of 39. He was
born on June 26, 1972 in
Covington, LA the son of
Lancy Davis and Vivian
Hopkins.
Lancy was raised and attended
school in Tallishiek, LA. He
served in the US Navy for two
years, stationed in Japan and
aboard the USS Midway and
USS Eisenhower. Lancy
worked as a surveyor for Ned
Wilson in Mandeville, LA, for
Randall Brown, BFM and
MPH, all of Louisiana. He was
working as a surveyor for Kaw
Valley Engineering in Junction
City. Lancy married Ruby
Meche on June 26, 1996, she
survives of the home.

30, 2012, at the Waterville
United Methodist Church with
Pastor Debby Dick officiating.
The musician will be Beverly
Hedke. Kim Oatney is to sing
“On Eagle’s Wings” and the
congregation will sing “It is
Well with My Soul” and “How
Great Thou Art”. Andy, Luke,
Brian, Eric and Tom Henry are
to sing “An Irish Blessing”.
Casket Bearers will be her
grandsons; Matthew, Andy,
Luke, Brian, Eric and Tom.
Burial will be at Riverside
Cemetery in Waterville.
Memorials are suggested to
Prairie Valley Vet Animal
Rescue Fund, Salesian
Missions, or the Waterville
United Methodist Church.
Her parents; husband,
Henry; son, Harold Roever;
two brothers, Elmer and
LaVene Higgins; two sisters,
Iva Weeks and Marietta
Rowland Souder; and two
grandchildren, preceded her in
death.
Survivors include her daughter,
Kelma (Don) Frohberg,
Waterville; daughter-in-law,
Joyce Roever, Herington, KS;
eight grandchildren; eighteen
great-grandchildren; and six
great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been
established to Zion Lutheran
Church. Contributions may be
sent in care of Kinsley
Mortuary.

lived in Colorado. She was also
a member of the saddle club in
Colorado and enjoyed spending
time with her grandsons and
family. Gail played the piano as
a child and loved all kinds of
animals and flowers.
Survivors include her husband,
Harold; children, Shelley
(Jay) Peters, Jim (GayLynn)
Jones, all of Washington; mother,
Thelma Tegethoff,
Washington; sister, Joan (Jeff)
Kugler, York, NE; brother, Don
(Debbie) Tegethoff,
Washington; and two grandsons,
Jim and Pete.
Her father preceded her in
death.
A memorial fund has been
established in her name and
will be designated by the family.

care of the funeral home.
