This field guide is presented as a memorial to Dr Denys Smith formerly of the British Geological
Survey (BGS). It is based on the Yorkshire Geological Society field guide by Cooper (1994 &
2006) with additions from the Harrogate Memoir (Cooper & Burgess, 1993).
