However, one Police Officer died, a
heroic death in this encounter.

Worthy experiences
in policing
the Governor of MP)
1) Anti Naxal Operations in Rajnand
Gaon and Mandla, collectively for
two years:
As SP RajnandGaon.
Working with a guerrilla warfare tactics
got many naxals arrested. This training
benefitted the force and they were able to
thwart the armed naxal attack on police
station churia of Rajnand Gaon.In this
encounter three naxals were eliminated
including their commander who had a
reward of Rs 2Lakh for his arrest.
2) Disaster Management
Rescue, relief and rehabilitation
operations in the event of disasters like
flood, fire, accidents etc.A few incidents
where I tried to avert and mitigate the
disaster and also did post disaster
operations for restoring peace and
normalcy in the area.
A) As CSP, Ujjain:
I have the experience of managing the
disaster of flood during my tenure as CSP,
Ujjain. Many people were rescued and
brought to safety.
B) As Commandant 32 nd Btn.

Post disaster management at Mahakal
Temple, stampede tragedy where many
people died. A new practical secure
security system was evolved.
Post disaster management of the drowning
of about 60 and odd passengers along with
bus in Narmada River, Nimawar, Dewas.
Many dead bodies of pilgrims were
salvaged out of a river in full flood.
C) As SP Khandwa
As SP, Khandwa I had the opportunity
of successfully managing operations for
rescue, relief and rehabilitation for the
oustees of Mega Hydel Electrical Project,
Indra Sagar Project commissioned at river
Narmada. It was managed in co-ordination
with the district authorities and the stake
holder Narmada Hydel Development
Corporation (NHDC) without any law and
order problem or loss of human life,
property and wild life.
As SP, Khandwa,I was directed to
launch a rescue and relief operation in the
neighbouring District Dewas where there
was public agitation at its peak following
this serious tragedy at religious place
called Dharaji in Narmada River. I handled
this Post disaster management of the
incident of drowning of pilgrims. Dead
bodies of many pilgrims were salvaged
from the River Narmada which brought the
aggravating law and order situation under
control.

D) As DIG Chambal Range
As DIG Chambal Range, I encountered a
similar kind of River Tragedy. Post disaster
management of the tragic drowning of
pilgrims at religious place called Ratan
Gargh Ki Mata Ka Mandir at River Sind in
District Datia was carried out by me and
my team of dedicated men. Dead bodies of
many pilgrims were salvaged from the
deep and turbulent River Sind which
brought the aggravating law and order
situation under control.
3) Law and Order Management
As SP, Khandwa I was sent for a special
duty at Dhar a district in
M.P.(communally hypersensitive) for
maintaining law and order during Basant
Panchami/Friday in 2006 at Bhoj Shala
where there was severe communal tension
over the issue of observing Namaj inside
the Bhoj Shala.I was entrusted with the
safety and security of Bhoj Shala premises
/ structure. Under strategic leadership,
planning and sustained evidence based
policing ,the police force managed to
maintain the sanctity of the disputed
archaeological site which had some
similarity with the Ram Janam Bhumi and
Babri Masjid of Ayodhya in U.P. in terms
of its origin. Hence, the disaster of worst
proportion was averted.
4) Action against the SIMI networking

As SP Khandwa, an underground
networking was unearthed with
professional efforts. They were enrolling
the young boys and girls as members of
SIMI( Students Islamic Movement of
India) for their communally disharmonic ,
anti- constitutional and anti India designs.
A dozen accused were arrested in this case
including tow ladies. The arrested were
from Khandwa(M.P.), Burahan Pur and
Kota(Rajasthan).
5) Anti Dacoits Operations
i) A gang of dreaded dacoits was
arrested with two of its hardcore
dacoits eliminated in self defense
in a fierce encounter in the district
of Dewas.
ii) Inter State dreaded dacoit gang
which had unleashed a reign of
terror in the state of Uttar
Pradesh,Rajasthan and Madhya
Pardeh was eliminated in self
defense in a fierce encounter in the
district Morena, Chambal Range,
as a result of major anti dacoit
operations where IG zone
provided effective leadership.
