I think that <strong>Ernie</strong> <strong>Franklin</strong> [19 <strong>Jan</strong> <strong>98</strong>] did the wrong thing by asking for a definition of IT. Now he got<br />
very much different examples, from different points of view with different elements in it. He will choose<br />
the one(s) that sounds great and everybody is happy. But <strong>Ernie</strong> is not aware of the points of view or<br />
characteristics of the work environment of the people whose definition he got. So maybe he choose a<br />
non-optimal definition for his sake. So I agree with everyone who says that we must essentially create<br />
our own "operational definitions" for these fuzzy concepts (like competence). But that may not<br />
contribute to Total Confusion. That's why it seems important to me to create a 'general framework' for<br />
such definitions which contains elements with certain possible values to fill depending of personal<br />
situations/ points of view/ work environments.
