tourism, hiking, climbing and horse riding.<br />
Major attractions: About 100 rock-<br />
hewn churches; Gheralta mountains with<br />
stunning panoramic views.<br />
Road availability: High-quality asphalted<br />
road from <strong>Mekelle</strong> to Wukro (47 km), then<br />
unpaved road from Wukro to Hawzien<br />
environs (50-80 km).<br />
Utilities: Electricity is available in<br />
this area; a water supply check should<br />
be performed before starting land<br />
plot development.<br />
One lodge is already in operation in<br />
Hawzien (Gheralta Lodge).<br />
Asbi area<br />
Potential activities: Adventure tourism;<br />
religious and cultural tourism.<br />
Major attractions: Depression area of Afar<br />
