He added that the Medical City, when completed, will receive patients from various referral hospitals in the Sultanate, and that the construction work will begin after completing the consultancy studies. — ONA Sultanate attends Arab meeting on water MUSCAT — The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, will take part in the ifth session of the Arab Ministerial Council on Water, which begins today at the headquarters of the Secretariat General of the Arab League in Cairo. Ali bin Mohammed al Abri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources for Water Resources Affairs, will lead the Sultanate’s delegation at the meeting. The meeting will discuss several topics that will include following up the implementation of decisions of the Arab Summit on Economic and Social Development, as well as following up the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals for water supply, and preparing for the seventh Global Water Forum due to be held in Korea in 2015. The meeting will also discuss the inter- Arab co-operation in shared water resources, sharing of experiences, successful stories and leading projects in the Arab states in the area of water resources. The meeting will discuss recommendations of the second Conference on Water, the Arab co-operation with countries and regional groupings, the award of the Arab Ministerial Council on Water, and ixing a date and venue for the ministerial and technical meetings for 2014. — ONA

Over time, these leaders would be replaced by Omanis who had beneitted from a major opportunity to learn and develop. The process of Omanising the business has evolved naturally but now Oman Sail is stepping up the pace by launching a Fast Track leadership programme designed to focus business and management resources on a select group of talented individuals from across a range of different departments at Oman Sail. A total of 19 employees were selected for the inaugural programme which is being delivered by Mod- various aspects of the project, which is expected to be a qualitative jump for the Governorate of Muscat and its residents. He added that the ministry is studying all alternatives to settle conditions of the existing employees at the port whether at the new port or the projects that will be set up. The reception was held in honour of the public and private institutions and companies that have sponsored this year's charitable market, which was organised by AWDA in May and decided to donate the revenue to the Spanish NGO, Messengers of Peace, and the United Nations. It is worth noting that AWDA was founded in 2007 at the initiative of a group of Arab ambassadors to the Kingdom of Spain for Arab woman diplomats in Madrid, as well as the Spanish women entrepreneurs. The group comprises Ahmed bin Mohammed al Shamsi as the Head, Khalid bin Ahmed al Saeedi as the Deputy Head and Rashid bin Ahmed al Shamsi, Abdullah bin Ahmed al Malik, Na'ama bint Jameel al Busaidiyah and Yousef bin Ahmed al Balushi as members. This step comes within the framework of the parliamentary co-operation between the Majlis Ash’shura and the Arab and international parliamentary councils. The group aims at enhancing and promoting the joint parliamentary relations between the two countries and exchanging the expertise and visits between the two councils, as well as supporting their efforts and stances in the regional and international parliamentary forums and events. — ONA Tenders for Sohar bridge, other projects MUSCAT — The Tender Board yesterday awarded tenders worth RO 20,524,035 for the projects including construction of a bridge over Falaj Al Qabayel roundabout in the Wilayat of Sohar in the North Al Batinah Governorate (RO 17,884,403), additional works for the design and implementation of internal roads in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah (RO 1,839,194) and additional works for the provision of consultancy services for preparing the designs and supervision of the water distribution network project in the Wilayat of Samayil in the Dakhiliyah Governorate (RO 88,700). Also included are additional works for the provision of consultancy services for the automatic control system for the water networks in the Muscat Governorate (RO ing the selection process with candidates required to show a degree of self motivation, with a passionate and dedicated approach to their roles within the organisation. Crucially, they had to prove they were worthy role models, epitomising the Oman Sail values, with a willingness to learn and develop. Zainab Jones, Head of Learning and Development said: ”We are very proud of this exciting new Fast Track initiative which has been a long time in the planning and very carefully thought out. Our aim is to develop future leaders from within Oman Sail by giving our high liers the skills and opportunities to develop their potential which will be beneicial to them, to Oman Sail and to Oman. “We hope we can nurture some of the exceptional talent we have in this organisation and in allowing them to fulil their potential, inspire others who are joining Oman Sail or thinking of joining to work hard and follow in their footsteps. We believe it will be very successful.” All the leadership potential the candidates had to demonstrate to gain selection will be developed into management and leadership skills through a series of projects and workshops, run on a cycle of classroom, projects/action plans and coaching including 25 days of contact training. They will learn what kind of leader they are, in line with the four leadership styles identiied by the senior management team. These include ‘innovator and broker’ with an entrepreneurial approach to business and ‘mentor and facilitator’ whose focus is on team building. Other learning modules will cover goal setting, leading and managing others and how to create a successful and motivated team to achieve the organisation’s goals. 3 CBO panel discusses strategies, projects MUSCAT — The Strategic Planning Committee at the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) yesterday held its irst meeting under the chairmanship of Hamoud bin Sanjour al Zedjali, CBO Executive President. During the meeting, the Committee viewed a visual presentation given by the Joint Omanisation Committee "Transport and Communications Sector," and discussed the challenges facing the employment of national manpower in this sector. The meeting reviewed the outcomes of the joint meeting that comprised members of the Joint Committee for Omanisation at the transport and communications sector, the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Ministry of Manpower to develop an integrated vision for creating job opportunities for citizens and providing the sector with proper training programmes. The Joint Committee for Omanisation at the sale and distribution sector gave a visual presentation that highlighted the mechanisms to provide national manpower with employment and training opportunities. — ONA
