BMX
Man & Machine
Freestyle or Bicycle Stunt riding, evolved from BMX
(bicycle motocross) racing in the early 1980s. BMX racing
has been around since the ‘70s, with the first official BMX
heavy-duty bike frames replacing the traditional modified
Stingrays in 1973. Throughout the 1970s, racing grew in
popularity until it had become a sizeable, established
sport. X Games competitions in Asia feature two Bicycle
Stunt disciplines: Park and Vert. In the US, the competition
also features Dirt Jumping.
Skateboarding
Park
This course has it all - big transitions balanced out with
ledges, curbs and handrails. At KIA X Games Asia, this
course is specially designed with the technical skater in mind.
The skater with the most diverse style, who has mastered all
these elements, will walk away with the gold medal. This
technique of skateboarding has become so popular that it is
almost an art and breed of skater all on its own.
Vert
Skate Vert is truly an X Games Asia staple competition.
One can’t help but think of it’s participants as warriors
rather than just crazies on skates. These guys put it all on
the line for the love and progression of the sport sacrificing
blood and sweat for glory and gold.
Moto X
Freestyle
The Moto revolution has taken over the X Games. Several
years ago it was a new sport during the Supercross race
intermission. Moto X has come of age developing its own
culture, attitude and superstars. In many ways, it has
surpassed its race roots in terms of popularity. Although a
demo item, Freestyle Motocross (FMX) has quickly become
one of the highlights at KIA X Games Asia.
Sport Climbing
Speed
KIA X Games Asia gathers athletes from around the world
but no other X Games sport brings an international
contingency like speed climbing. The KIA X Games Asia
brings together speed climbers all fighting to hit the buzzer
at the top of the wall. The competition format is simple - the
final unbeaten man/woman competes head to head to take
home Gold.
