Flue gas is passed through an absorption<br />

section where sulfur dioxide, chlorides, and<br />

sulfur trioxide are removed via contact with a<br />

solution of sodium salts. The sodium/sulfur<br />

salts are reacted with hydrated lime in a<br />

special 2-stage reactor to reg<strong>en</strong>erate the<br />

sodium. Calcium/sulfur solids produced are<br />

separated from the liquor containing<br />

reg<strong>en</strong>erated sodium compounds and disposed<br />

of. The reg<strong>en</strong>erated liquor is recirculated to<br />
