The Post Pointing and Debarking 

machine debarks and points logs of up 

to 20 cm in diameter. 

Observe the following for operation:

Description 

The Post Pointing and Debarking 

machine is a log processing machine for 

debarking and pointing logs. 

The log is positioned on the supporting 

surface on the debarking disc guard and 

pressed against the debarking disk. During 

debarking or pointing the log must 

be turned for even debarking or pointing. 

The machine is driven by an electric 

motor, a pto or a combination of both 

drive types.

General Safety 

Regulations 

▼ Position the debarking machine on 

level ground only. 

▼ Always wear protective footwear. 

▼ Use ear protection and goggles. 

▼ Do not wear loose clothing. 

▼ Never use faulty mains leads. 

▼ Ensure that working place is sufficiently 

lit as insufficient lighting considerably 

increases the likelihood of injury! 

▼ Work carefully! In case of incorrect 

operation the rotating debarking disk 

can cause grave injuries. 

▼ Machines with electrical drive must 

not be operated in rainy weather as this 

could lead to a defect of the switch or 

the electrical motor. 

▼ Never work without guards. 

▼ Debarking machine with electronic 

brake switch must contain a PEN conductor. 

▼ Switch off machine and disconnect 

from mains before modifying machine. 

▼ Do not operate debarking machine in 

enclosed spaces. 


Operation of Debarking Machine 

▼ Work on electrical equipment must 

be carried out by qualified electricians. 

▼ Only use original POSCH spare 

parts. 

▼ Never leave running machine unattended. 

▼ Do not place hands in discharge! 

▼ Do not place hands in debarking 

disk! 

▼ Minimum operator age: 18 

▼ The chip thickness may not exceed 

1.1 mm 

▼ Do not wear neckties or jewelry. 

▼ Do not operate while under influence 

of drugs, alcohol or medication. 

Noise Information 

During normal log debarking or pointing, 

a noise level of 98-100 dB(A) can be 

expected near the operator's ears. We 

therefore strongly recommend the use of 

ear protection. 

Start-up 

For Electrical Drive Models 

▼ Position debarking machine on level 

ground.

▼ Check all bolts on debarking guard 

and tighten if necessary. 

▼ Check debarking disk for secure seat 

and tighten hexagonal nuts if necessary. 

The debarking disk must rotate without 

making contact. 

▼ Check if V-belts are sufficiently tensioned. 

▼ Check switch for functioning of 

EMERGENCY STOP.

Caution! In case of a brake switch fault, 

the circular saw may not be operated. 

Caution! If the machine stops due to 

overloading, the switch may only be 

operated again after 60 seconds.

EMERGENCY STOP 

▼ The switch may not be operated 

more than five times within a period of 

ten minutes! 

▼ Connect debarking machine to 

mains. 

• 400V - mains voltage (use 16 A 

fuse) 

• Debarking machine with electronic 

braking switch must contain a PEN 

conductor. 

• The mains cable must have a diameter 

of at least 2,5 mm 2 . 

• Observe direction of motor rotation 

(see arrow on motor). In case of 

incorrect rotation: A phase reverser is 

contained in the switch plug for 

changing the rotation direction. (Push 

plug disc down with screwdriver and 

turn by 180°).

Caution! If the plugging connections 

are too tight the CEE-plug can be torn 

out of the switch case.

• Remedial measures are the use of 

trade mark plugs and the use of a silicone 

spray. 

Note: We cannot grant any warranty 

replacements for such damages at the 

switch resulting of above. 

Caution! Work on electrical equipment 

must be carried out by qualified electricians. 

▼ Pull guard upwards. Loosen holding 

bolts to pull up guards and retighten 

bolts. 

For Tractor Drive 

1. Connect the debarking machine with 

the pto drive to the three-point linkage 

of the tractor. 

• During operation the debarking 

machine should be fixed to the bottom 

links of the tractor. 

2. Mount universal shaft and safety 

chain. 

3. Switch on pto on tractor. 

▼ The recommended pto rotation is 

500 rpm. 

• Observe pto or debarking disc rotation 

direction. 

▼ The maximum pto rotation is 



• 540 rpm.

Caution! If your tractor is equipped 

with a hydraulic pto coupling, it is absolutely 

necessary to use a free running universal 

shaft. 

4. Set the hand throttle of the tractor to 

minimum. 

5. Slowly couple the tractor pto and start 

the machine. 

6. Set the required rotational speed using 

the hand throttle. 

Caution! Before the universal shaft is 

uncoupled, the hand throttle of the tractor 

must be set to minimum.

1. Position log horizontally on support 

surface. 

2. Push log against debarking disk and 

turn evenly. 

Caution! The log must not be debarked 

from one side only. After debarking half 

the log turn it by 180°. 

3. To point the log push log diagonally 

against debarking disk and turn. 

4. After finishing the operation push 

guard down to cover debarking disk 

blades.

1. Loosen cover plate by removing selflocking 

hexagonal nuts. 

2. Loosen the four self-locking hexagonal 

nuts from the debarking disk guard. 

3. Loosen the two hexagonal nuts from 

the debarking disk. 

4. Remove debarking disk and debarking 

disk guard.

Setting the Debarking Disk

Transportation 

1. Lift transportation handle and secure 

with spring connector (see Fig. 1 - 

Debarking machine with V-belt drive). 

2. Lift machine. 

For Pto Drive Models 

1. Switch off pto drive. 

2. Mount debarking machine on threepoint 

linkage and lift with tractor 

hydraulics. 

3. For public road transportation observe 

the Highway Code. Affix an appliance 

light to the rear of the machine. 

▼ The maximum transportation speed 

is 15 mph!

▼ The debarking disc must be cleaned 

every 8-10 hours with a deresinifying 

agent (e.g. thinner).

Lubrication 

▼ Oil debarking disk blades regularly to 

prevent rusting. 

▼ Grease guard guides occasionally. 

Sharpening of Debarking 

Disk Blades 

▼ The cutting edge of the hardened 

debarking disk blade must be reground 

occasionally. 

Remove blades for this operation (see 

Fig. 8 - Blade setting). 

The cutting angle of the blade may not 

be changed when regrinding.

1. Loosen nuts (1) of inner guard plate. 

2. Loosen bolts (2) of V-belt guard. 

Remove V-belt guard. 

3. Loosen motor rocker. 

• Loosen bolt (3) and tighten nut 

(4). The motor will be lifted up. 

4. Remove V-belts and replace with new 

belts.

5. Loosen nut (4). The motor is lowered, 

tensioning the V-belts. Tighten bolt (3) 

and nut (4) so that motor rocker returns 

to straight position and is not twisted. 

6. Replace V-belt guard and attach with 

inner guard plate to frame. Fasten inner 

guard plate with nuts (1) to V-belt 

guard.

1. Separate three-point linkage by loosening 

the four hexagonal bolts. 

2. Loosen the four hexagonal bolts on 

pto bearing. 

3. Loosen hexagonal bolt of tensioning 

spindle. Turn tensioning spindle down 

for pto bearing to move up, releasing the 

V-belts. 

4. Remove old V-belts and replace with 

new belts. 

Caution! Position V-Belt loosely.
