in Barre, Jan. 17, 1785 married first — ; Sibyl who<br />

died April 10, 1849, sb. 64; mar. second, July 5, 1849,<br />

widow Eunice S. Forbes. He died before Sept. 30,<br />

1850, when his widow asked that Samuel <strong>Tobey</strong> of<br />

Buckland be appointed administrator; he was also appointed<br />

guardian to Sibyl A. and Edwin L. <strong>Tobey</strong>*<br />

above the age of 14, and Josephine M. Carrier under<br />

14, grandchildren and heirs of the deceased, May 15,<br />

1860.<br />

Charles H. <strong>Tobey</strong> with Olive N., his wife, of Byron,<br />

Kent Co., N. Y., and John Williams <strong>Tobey</strong>, of Dover,<br />

Cuyahuga Co., Ohio, joined with other heirs in a quitclaim<br />

deed of their rights in the Carlton Farm in<br />

Buckland (one half of which had been formerly mentioned<br />

in the inventory of John <strong>Tobey</strong>'s estate),<br />

April 3, 1860.<br />

was born about 1763.<br />

He was a private on the muster and pay roll of Capt. Henry<br />

James' company, service at Rhode Island on an alarm from<br />

March 14th to 18th, 1781.<br />

He was published at Dartmouth, May 22, 1785, to<br />

Ruth Hammond. He learned the trade of house-<br />

wright. Removed to Uxbridge; joined the church,<br />

Dec. 3, 1786; bought land there, 2 May, 1789. Re-
