26 TOBEY GENEALOGY.
jNathan 2
4
(Thomas 1
), born in Sandwich at a date
not now known, was enrolled as a townsman of the
plantation June 27, 1681, and was referred to in honorable
ways in after years in the same place.
He married (according to the Sargent Genealogy)
Mary Sargent* who was probably the mother of Seth
and Deborah. The long interval between the recorded
births of children from 1689 to 1697 may indicate
that he married his second wife about the latter date.
She was Sarah Fallowell, of whose connections we
have the following very interesting particulars in a
deed of land.
"Nathan Tobey of Sandwich, Samuel Barrow, of Middle-
borough and Susanna, his wife, and Sarah Tobey, being heirs
to the three fourth parts of the estate which our grandmother
Sarah Fallowell and our uncle William Fallowell," both late of
Plymouth, died seized of; and whereas the court, 13 June,
1729, settled the whole upon our brother William Tobey, of
Plymouth," they deeded their shares to John Cooper and
Nathaniel Thomas June 26, 1729, in confirmation of a deed
which William had made to the same parties.
The date of Nathan Tobey's death is not recorded
but may
be inferred from the date of his will and the
time of its probating.
THE WILL OF NATHAN TOBEY, Sen.
