For any materials where the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids phrase or logo is used with other logos, the
trademark language below has to be included in its entirety.
The colors for the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids brand reflect its personality. Heavy use of simple black
and white represents the clarity of our vision and the honesty of our perspective. The logo’s
characteristic red adds pop
and provides vivid contrast.
For those with advanced graphics training, we have supplied secondary colors. These colors should
be used sparingly — only for accents such as borders and backgrounds.
For personal communications, memos, letters, and the like, use the Arial font. A single font gives the
brand consistency, while multiple styles and weights used in various combinations keep the look
[ORGANIZATION]
[AGENCY] RECEIVES GRANT FROM THE DAVE THOMAS FOUNDATION FOR
ADOPTION
Exclusive funding for Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program
CITY, State (Date) — [Agency] has received a grant from the Dave Thomas Foundation for
Adoption that will bring children one step closer to finding homes.
The grant is dedicated to funding a child-focused adoption recruiter for Wendy’s Wonderful
Kids, a signature program of the Foundation.
The Wendy’s Wonderful Kids model is simple and effective: Wendy’s restaurants, its
customers and other partners raise funds for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
The Foundation issues grants to local adoption organizations, which hire adoption
professionals and implement an aggressive child-specific recruitment program. This
program is targeted exclusively at placing children in foster care, and particularly the longest
waiting children, into loving, adoptive families. Recruiters must dedicate 100 percent of their
workdays to the program.
There are more than 107,000 children in the U.S. foster care system waiting to be adopted,
including [XXX] children in [state or county].*
“Each year [number] local children in foster care turn 18 and leave the child welfare system
without permanent families,” said [agency director]. “Through Wendy’s Wonderful Kids,
[agency] can focus dedicated time to matching the longest waiting-children in foster care
with families who hope to adopt.”
*U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration on Children, Youth and Families, Children’s
Bureau; rev. September, 2008

Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption president and CEO Rita Soronen said the model is
having a direct impact already: “Since the national launch in April of 2004, 122 recruiters
throughout the U.S., the District of Columbia, and two Canadian provinces have joined
Wendy’s and the Foundation to serve children waiting in foster care.” Soronen added, “As of
today, more than 7,000 children have been served by the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program.
Of those children, more than 3,000 have had families identified for them, and 2,300 have
been adopted or are waiting for a final court hearing as a direct result of this terrific
partnership.”
To learn more about the program, or to find out how to adopt from foster care, call your local
Wendy’s Wonderful Kids recruiter at [local phone number] or visit wendyswonderfulkids.org.
