Appendix C: Code <strong>of</strong> Values<br />
2. Hazing<br />
a. Definition: The use <strong>of</strong> physical violence, or any activity or communication calculated to impose<br />
embarrassment; harassment; physical, emotional or mental strain, or any activity which would in any way<br />
jeopardize the physical, moral or scholastic well-being <strong>of</strong> any individual; mentally antagonizing a <strong>student</strong>,<br />
guest or employee or placing him or her under threat <strong>of</strong> physical harm<br />
b. Minimum Sanction:<br />
(1) By an individual-probation, $100 fine and loss <strong>of</strong> privilege<br />
(2) By an organization-probation, $300 fine and loss <strong>of</strong> privilege<br />
3. Sexual Misconduct<br />
a. Definition: Including, but not limited to, the following: heterosexual/homosexual intercourse, adultery,<br />
unwanted fondling and rape<br />
b. Minimum Sanction: Probation, $75 fine<br />
4. Assault<br />
a. Definition: An attempt or <strong>of</strong>fer with force or violence to do harm to another person (This includes, but is<br />
not limited to: striking, shoving, kicking, slapping or otherwise forcefully touching a person; or engaging<br />
in reckless behavior that causes physical injury to another person.)<br />
b. Minimum Sanction: Probation<br />

1. Lewd and Indecent Conduct<br />
a. Definition: Including, but not limited to, the following: lewd, indecent, pr<strong>of</strong>ane and vulgar language,<br />
writing, expression or behavior (to include dress); Peeping Toms; indecent exposure; and possession <strong>of</strong><br />
pornographic materials<br />
b. Minimum Sanction: Reprimand, $50 fine<br />
2. Gambling<br />
a. Definition: To play or game for money or other valuable stakes with the hope <strong>of</strong> gaining something<br />
significant beyond the amount an individual pays<br />
b. Minimum Sanction: Reprimand<br />
3. Disorderly Conduct<br />
a. Definition: Conduct that is <strong>of</strong>fensive or annoying to others or is disruptive <strong>of</strong> the rights <strong>of</strong> others<br />
b. Minimum Sanction: Reprimand<br />
4. Possessing, Consuming or Distributing Alcoholic Beverages<br />
a. Definition: Possessing, consuming or distributing alcoholic beverages (to include containers) is prohibited<br />
on the campus and at any activity <strong>of</strong>f campus that is sponsored by any university organization,<br />
department or group, or by any individual in the name <strong>of</strong> any university organization, department or<br />
group<br />
b. Minimum Sanction: Probation, $50 fine and alcohol education<br />
5. Distributing Alcoholic Beverages to an Underage Person<br />
a. Definition:<br />
(1) By an individual-any person providing or distributing alcoholic beverages to any individual below the<br />
age <strong>of</strong> 21 years<br />
(2) By an organization-any organization providing or distributing alcoholic beverages to any individual<br />
below the age <strong>of</strong> 21 years<br />
b. Minimum Sanction:<br />
(1) By an individual-university suspension<br />
(2) By an organization-university suspension <strong>of</strong> organizational status<br />
6. Intoxication<br />
a. Definition: A person who, having consumed alcoholic beverages or other substances, experiences a loss <strong>of</strong><br />
the normal use <strong>of</strong> mental and/or physical faculties (This includes, but is not limited to: slurred speech,<br />
loss <strong>of</strong> motor coordination, aggression, loss <strong>of</strong> memory or abusive behavior.)<br />
b. Minimum Sanction: Probation, $100 fine, and alcohol and/or substance abuse education<br />
