The training programme<br />

Outline <strong>of</strong> the training programme<br />

Each training programme consists <strong>of</strong> several<br />

courses. All courses can be followed as<br />

stand-al<strong>one</strong>, but a training programme is<br />

designed to facilitate various combinations<br />

to build skills within a specific interest area.<br />

It is also possible to combine courses from<br />

different training programmes. This set-up<br />

allows <strong>for</strong> individual packages, tailored to the<br />

specific requirements <strong>of</strong> the participants. For<br />

The <strong>IAC</strong><br />

The International Agricultural Centre (<strong>IAC</strong>) is<br />

affiliated to Wageningen University and<br />

Research Centre. The <strong>IAC</strong> builds capacity<br />

and supports innovation <strong>for</strong> sustainable<br />

development in the agriculture, food, rural<br />

development and natural resources<br />

management sectors.<br />

Through its support to organisations and<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essionals in business, government and<br />

Fellowships<br />

Fellowships <strong>for</strong> postgraduate courses are<br />

available from different sources. On the<br />

website www.wur.nl/funding <strong>you</strong> will find a<br />

funding database which can help <strong>you</strong> search<br />

<strong>for</strong> funding possibilities.<br />

A limited number <strong>of</strong> fellowships is available<br />

from the Netherlands Fellowship <strong>Programme</strong><br />

(NFP) <strong>for</strong> nationals <strong>of</strong> a number <strong>of</strong><br />

developing countries.<br />

Candidates who wish to apply <strong>for</strong> such a<br />

Who can participate?<br />

Most courses are designed <strong>for</strong> mid-career<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essionals, in government, nongovernment,<br />

commercial as well as research<br />

and training organisations. Potential<br />

participants are likely to hold positions<br />

related to policy making and management.<br />

Fees<br />

The tuition fee includes administration fees,<br />

lecture materials and, if these are part <strong>of</strong> the<br />

programme, excursions. The fee <strong>for</strong> a<br />

combination <strong>of</strong> courses within <strong>one</strong> training<br />

programme will not exceed € 5025.<br />

Participants will be accommodated at the<br />

Wageningen International Conference Centre<br />

(WICC), on the basis <strong>of</strong> full board and<br />

lodging. Prices are available upon request.<br />

This sum is not included in the fee.<br />

livelihoods <strong>of</strong> rural people, enhance farming<br />

systems, develop sound agri-business<br />

opportunities, ensure access to safe and<br />

healthy food and establish <strong>for</strong>ms <strong>of</strong> land and<br />

water management that support the<br />

maintenance <strong>of</strong> healthy ecosystems. To meet<br />

clients’ needs, the <strong>IAC</strong> takes an integrated<br />

approach to capacity development. Advisory<br />

fellowship should begin the application<br />

procedure as soon as possible. Candidates<br />

first apply to <strong>IAC</strong> (or ILRI, or the University)<br />

<strong>for</strong> admission to the course. Preferably, this<br />

should be d<strong>one</strong> at least 2 weeks be<strong>for</strong>e the<br />

Fellowship Application Deadline. Acceptable<br />

candidates will receive a letter from <strong>IAC</strong> (or<br />

ILRI, or the University) indicating that they<br />

have been provisionally accepted.<br />

Candidates then apply <strong>for</strong> a NFP fellowship<br />

The <strong>IAC</strong> has no funds <strong>for</strong> financing<br />

participants and regrets it is unable to assist<br />

applicants in obtaining sponsorship.
