their time at the Helen M. Davis State School
talent show last spring. The school is a special
education school which offers classes for
the students in the local community.
Griffon Football 2011
Missouri Western student-athletes get
involved with the community in many ways.
During the 2010-11 academic year ,Griffon
student-athletes participated in over 1,000
hours of community service in the local area.
In addition, Griffon Football players were
involved in many endeavors including Athlete
Reading Week at Skaith Elementary School,
Camp Quality, The Mayors Thanksgiving
Dinner and United Way Profit in Education.
The MWSU Student-Athlete Advisory
Committee takes part in several service
projects throughout the year including “Griffs
Giving Gifts” and “Night Out on the Griffs.”

Games in the Looney Complex. Nursing home
residents from around the area came out
to compete in different events that ranged
from bowling, shooting baskets and playing
volleyball with a fly swatter and a balloon.
The oldest participant was a 104-old women.
Griffon student-athletes that participated
were: Brittany Douglas (softball), Katie Dugan
(women’s golf), Jesse Engleken (football),
Travis Partridge (football), Ashlyn Castillo
(soccer), Jon Cochrane (baseball), Andy
Stewart (baseball), Scott Groner (baseball),
Brittany Casady (women’s basketball), Alex
Noble (women’s basketball), Jeremy Weston
(football), Nate Jones (baseball), Kyle Peterson
(baseball) and Dalton Krysa (football).
