Annual gifts play an important role in filling the gap between financial aid endowment
and the total need of today’s students. The impact of Stanford fund gifts on the bottom
line is immediate: A gift of $25,000 is roughly equivalent to the annual payout on
a $500,000 endowed fund.
More than 1,300 students received scholarship support from The Stanford Fund in
2011–12. in some cases, The Stanford fund meets a student’s entire need; in others,
Stanford Fund dollars are added to endowed scholarship funding to complete a
student’s financial aid package.
To meet the growing need for financial aid, the
university relies more heavily than ever on annual
gifts. Since 2008–09, the president has allocated more
than 75 percent of Stanford Fund dollars to need-based
financial aid. The broad-based support of all undergraduate
alumni is vital to our efforts.
Donors who give at least $25,000 per year to The Stanford
Fund have a unique opportunity to help. Their leadership
gifts establish Stanford fund Scholarships
that underwrite financial aid for individual student
recipients. like endowed scholarship donors, Stanford
Fund Scholarship donors have an opportunity to learn
about and get to know their student recipients—an
especially rewarding experience. They also continue
to be recognized at the President’s fund level for their
Stanford Fund giving.
