Christchurch Street Names B Current name Former name Origin of name Suburb Additional information Blossom Lady Lane Christchurch City Libraries Updated July 2013 Named after Blossom Lady, a racehorse. Templeton Named by local horse trainer Jack Carmichael and Peter Petersen of the Templeton Residents’ Association. Locals asked that the names of prominent pacers and trotters be used because of the numerous training establishments in the area. Developed by Suburban Estates Ltd. and named in 2005. Bluebell Lane Named to continue a theme already established in the Brookhaven subdivision. Blue Gum Place Christchurch City Libraries Updated July 2013 Named after a gum tree on the site. Halswell Blowers was a pioneer Hoon Hay woodcutter who farmed at 82 Paterson Avenue, Halswell. Named in 2001. Woolston In a subdivision by Enterprise Homes. Named in 1999. New Brighton The tree was planted in the early 1940s by the landowner, Davie Holder. It was felled as a danger in 2007. Formed post-1997.
