The WVU Marching Band was formed 109 years ago in 1901 as an all male ROTC Band of eight members. Since its
incepti on, the band has evolved dramati cally in size, style, and reputati on. Today, the WVU Band is recognized as
is presented to only one college band each year, based on a long standing example of excellence, leadership, and
consistent high quality performances.
Any student att ending WVU is eligible to join the WVU Band. Membership is obtained through a simple auditi on.
Rehearsals are scheduled Tuesday through Friday for two hours in the late aft ernoon during the fall semester. The
2010 Marching Cougars Drum Majors
Bob Fuchs, Maura Brennan & Tom Braudaway
On behalf of everyone at Oakton High
School, the Band Boosters and the
Marching Cougars, we thank the many
volunteers — parents, friends, faculty,
staff and students — who worked to make
today a success.
Our sincere appreciation is also extended
to the Fair Oaks Volunteer Fire and Rescue,
the Fairfax County Police from the Fair
Oaks Station, our judges and announcer,
and certainly all of our sponsors and
advertisers. Last but not least, a special
thank you to our spectators, to the Pride
of West Virginia Marching Band and to all
the dedicated, talented, hard-working high
school bands here today.
We hope you enjoyed the
26th Oakton Classic!
See you next year!
