Perhaps best known as the comedian who
put the cerebral in Cerebral Palsy, Josh Blue
exploded onto the national comedy scene
as the winner of NBC’s Last Comic Standing
in 2006 and is a frequent guest on Comedy
Central, Fox, CBS, ABC and MSNBC, as well
as numerous nationally syndicated radio
stations. Using his likeable personality
and his ability to defy stereotypes with
self-deprecating humor, Blue captivates
audiences with his unique brand of comedy,
breaking down stereotypes of people with
disabilities one laugh at a time. His talent
and continually evolving routines can only be
attributed to his remarkable stage presence,
comedic timing and improvisational skills,
guaranteeing that no two shows are identical.

The Untold Story of
College Basketball
Legend Al McGuire
Renowned sportscaster, Emmy winner
and playwright Dick Enberg’s Coach is
an accurate portrayal of Al McGuire’s
outsized personality, career and life. Mc-
Guire led the Marquette basketball team
to win the NCAA Championship in 1977,
then continued his career as a witty and
entertaining sportscaster for NBC and
CBS where he partnered with Enberg. He
died in 2001 of leukemia. Cotter Smith,
star of stage, screen and television and
a frequent guest star in series such as
Ghost Whisperer, Without a Trace and
NCIS, delivers Enberg’s tribute to a true
sports legend. A one-man show that
debuted at Marquette in 2005 has
been touring ever since revealing
the lasting impact McGuire had on
Enberg and many others. Enberg
will give a video welcome and
introduction to the Bloomsburg
University audience.

ANTHONY ZERBE
It’s all done with
MIRRORS
Anthony Zerbe, the Emmy award-winning
actor with a resume spanning more than four
decades, provides joyous insight into the art
and energy of one of America’s most beloved
poets, E.E. Cummings. Through his blend of
brilliant acting with extraordinary poetry, Zerbe
moves through a parade of characters, accents
and dazzling wordplay perfectly capturing
Cummings’ favorite subjects. Like Cummings,
Zerbe is an accomplished raconteur and his
asides and anecdotes recall a time when
conversation was considered an art form.
This performance caps a three-day residence
at Bloomsburg University that will include
work with selected high school and university

Music director and conductor Daniel Spalding
had a vision when he founded PVCO in 1991: to
combine the great European chamber orchestra
tradition with the extraordinary virtuosity of some
of the finest musicians from the Philadelphia area
and the East Coast. He brings to the podium a
versatile and complex musical profile, performing
popular masterworks, unusual and lesser known
repertoire and newly commissioned works for
PVCO, whose mission is to redefine the 21st
century classical music experience for audiences.

“Dear God, I am 14 years old. I have always been a good girl.
Maybe you can give me a sign letting me know what is happening
to me.” The first lines of Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning
novel and the Tony-winning, Grammy-nominated Broadway
musical originally produced by Oprah Winfrey in 2005 open an
evening of powerful musical theatre and emotionally wrenching
social message. Timed to celebrate Women’s History and Black
History months, The Color Purple begins in the 1930s and spans
four decades in narrator and main character Celie’s life in the
Southern United States as told through letters she’s written to
God. Set to a score featuring jazz, ragtime, gospel and blues, it’s
a story of hope, a testament to the healing power of love and a
celebration of life.

Under the artistic direction of Dwight Rhoden and Desmond
Richardson, Complexions has been reinventing dance since
its debut in 1994. Featured on So You Think You Can Dance
in the U.S. and Australia, the group’s foremost innovation
is that dance should be about removing, not reinforcing,
boundaries. Complexions transcends all styles, periods, venues
and cultures to create an open, continually evolving form of
dance that reflects movement of our world as an integrated
whole. Rhoden and Richardson’s creative vision shaped the
unmistakable level of athleticism and choreography in ballet
their dancers bring to the stage. This will be Richardson’s
farewell tour as a dancer with Complexions. A master
workshop will enable advanced area dancers to
experience Complexions’ powerfully exquisite
techniques firsthand.

Woods
Contrasts of youth and age, novice and veteran,
gender and race inform the interplay of
musical styles of 20-year-old Grace Kelly and
80-year-old jazz legend Phil Woods. Along with
the Grace Kelly Quintet, the two will perform
selections from their saxophone duet CD, Man
with the Hat, the sixth Kelly has released since
she was 12 years old. Taking the industry by
storm, Kelly’s playing has been described
by jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis as having
“intelligence, wit and feeling … and the ability
to adapt that is the hallmark of a first-class
jazz musician.” Pennsylvania native Phil Woods
was awarded the 2011 Jazz Legacy Award from
the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation.
Bloomsburg University Players theatre performances
are generally recommended for adult audiences.
All theatre performances: Wednesdays through
Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.; Sundays at 3 p.m. Adults $6;
Seniors and non-BU students $4; BU students and
Community Card holders free. Tickets available at
the Haas Center for the Arts Box Office or at the door
on performance days.
In addition to this performance of intertwining
musical styles, Kelly will teach a workshop for
the 13th Bloomsburg University Jazz Festival.

Seating: All seating is reserved for all shows. Every audience
member, regardless of age, must have a ticket.
Parking: Parking is provided in the Swisher Circle lot
located behind the Andruss Library. Shuttle service
is only provided from this lot to the venue beginning
one hour before the show with return service after the
show. Celebrity Circle members’ parking is adjacent
to the venue. Handicapped parking is directed by
uniformed security officers the night of performance.
Special Needs: Patrons with special seating and parking
needs should indicate what accommodations are
needed when ordering tickets.
Start Times: Shows start at stated times. Latecomers
will be seated at the discretion of the performers and
the convenience of the management.
And Finally: All programs, dates and times are subject
to change.
All sales are final.
No refunds or exchanges.
Patrons are charged a $3.50 service charge and $1
facilities fee per ticket. Fees are waived for Celebrity
