Bears Move Indoors for the Winter
Indoor color guard and percussion ensemble will kick off their winter competition season in
early February. Last year, the percussion ensemble earned Champions in their division at the
Keystone Indoor Drill Associations Championships. This year percussion has 14 members, and
will be playing music from the movie “The Nightmare Before Christmas”.
The indoor color guard currently has 16 members, and is looking forward to another successful
season topping local competitors in and around Frederick County. Their show is based on Alice in Wonderland.
On February 13, 2013 OHS will host the Instrumental Feeder Pattern Concert, featuring the band programs from OES, DCES,
SRES, OMS, and OHS. The program is meant to highlight our talented musicians and instructors at all levels, and encourage the
fostering of music education throughout the K-12 experience. All are invited to attend and enjoy the show! ■

The Class of 2013 graduates on June 7th…
and we are just five months away from Safe & Sane!
Safe & Sane Tickets are ON SALE NOW! Tickets
for our first Safe & Sane party are available for $30 each,
and all tickets purchased before January 18 include two (2)
free raffle tickets for prizes at the event. Tickets purchased
between January 19—May 24 will cost $40 each and include
one (1) free raffle ticket. After May 24, tickets will cost $50
and no raffle tickets will be included. Don’t delay...get your
Safe & Sane party tickets early!
Calling ALL parents of ALL grades! Safe & Sane
needs your help at the graduation event on June 7th. Signups
are now open for volunteering at the party itself. We need many, many parents to help out at
Mount St. Mary’s the night of the party – one shift or all night, WE NEED YOU! Just go to our website
at www.ohssafeandsane.org and click on the Volunteers tab, then choose the option to ‘volunteer for
the night of the party.’ You will be taken to the sign up website where you can choose your shift(s). For
questions about signing up to volunteer at the Safe & Sane event, contact us
at oakdalesafeandsane@yahoo.com.
We invite students to participate in the Safe & Sane club at OHS so they have input in
planning the event. Interested students should see Ms. Crouse for more information.
