ACTING 2<br />

AESTHETICS:<br />

The student will demonstrate the ability to recognize and describe the development of a variety of dramatic<br />

forms over time and the aesthetic qualities they reflect.<br />

HISTORICAL / CULTURAL & SOCIAL:<br />

The student will demonstrate an understanding of the history, traditions and conventions of theatre,<br />

dramatic texts and other literature of the theatre, and ways that diverse theories and forms of theatre satisfy<br />

cultural needs, past and present.<br />

CREATIVE EXPRESSION:<br />

The student will demonstrate the ability to explore the creative process through theatrical activities and to<br />

apply theatrical knowledge, principles, and practices to collaborative theatre presentations.<br />

CRITICISM:<br />

The student will demonstrate the ability to identify, analyze, and apply criteria for individual and group<br />

contributions to the collaborative theatre process, dramatic texts, other literature of the theatre, theatrical<br />

performances and productions.<br />

AESTHETICS:<br />

DR.INA.10 The student will be exposed to the variety and richness of various performance forms.<br />

DR.INA.10.01 The student will identify and explain elements of various styles (e.g.<br />

comedy, tragedy, and farce).<br />

DR.INA.10.02 The student will incorporate various performance forms (e.g.<br />

monologue, soliloquy, and speech).<br />

DR.INA.15 The student will be able to identify and apply the core language of theatre.<br />

DR.INA.15.01 The student will identify and explain acting terminology, stage<br />

terminology, and play structure (e.g. exposition, climax, and falling action).<br />

CREATIVE EXPRESSION:<br />

DR.INA.40 The student will recognize the range of techniques and styles used in creating<br />

theatre.<br />

DR.INA.40.01 The student will explore acting techniques (e.g. Stanislavski, Method,<br />

and Meisner) in individual performance work.<br />

DR.INA.40.02 The student will explore and experiment with various styles of theatre<br />

(e.g. comedy, tragedy, and improvisation) in individual performance work.<br />

DR.INA.40.03 The student will experiment with a variety of classical and<br />

contemporary works in individual performance work.<br />

DR.INA.45 The student will identify a variety of technical elements used in theatrical<br />

production.<br />

DR.INA.45.01 The student will explore the elements of technical theatre (e.g. lighting,<br />

stage management, and make-up) and their functions in individual work.<br />

(e.g. LeCoq, Alexander, Tai Chi).<br />

DR.INA.60.01 The student will demonstrate the ability to use theatrical knowledge to<br />

create and sustain characters that communicate with audiences.<br />

and behavior using speech, voice and movement in an individual production piece.<br />

CRITICISM:<br />

DR.INA.65 The student will apply aesthetic criteria in responding to selected performed and<br />

written work.<br />

DR.INA.65.01 The student will use prescribed and individual criteria to evaluate and<br />

describe the characteristics of theatrical performances and productions.<br />

DR.INA.65.02 The student will analyze dramatic texts and other literature of the<br />

theatre to identify and describe the presence of theatrical conventions that influence<br />

performance.<br />

DR.INA.65.03 The student will write critical reviews of selected theatre performances<br />

using established criteria and appropriate language for the art form.


DR.INA.65.04 The student will evaluate performances and productions by comparing<br />

them to similar or exemplary models.<br />

DR.INA.70 The student will develop and continually refine a process for self-evaluation and<br />

improvement within a variety of theatrical contexts.<br />

DR.INA.70.01 The student will develop and apply standards for evaluating personal<br />

contributions in collaborative experiences in the theatre classroom setting.<br />

DR.INA.70.02 The student will evaluate personal performance and production<br />

activities using established and individual criteria.
