HOCKEY CENTRE OPENING
After a long wait, the MSA Hockey program has now established a home
base at the school after the opening of the new Tiger Turf pitch adjacent to
the stadium. Featuring the new Evo Pro surface, it is one of the new Hybrid
synthetics and the only pitch of its kind in Australia.
The carpet has been laid over a 15mm rubber shock pad to reduce stress
and workload on players joints. Coaches Victor Romagosa and Andrew
Smith were full of praise for the new facility indicating that the pitch
played true and fast and reduced travelling time would provide the
opportunity for the training sessions to be maximised. For the past
3 years, the program has been based at the Footscray Hockey Club
and the Sports Academy would like to thank the City of Maribyrnong
and the club for facilitating use of this venue while our own facilities were
being developed

CAR PARK SAFETY
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT & SPORTING EXCELLENCE
Maribyrnong Sports Academy, in conjunction with the Victoria
Racing Club is proud to present the second running of the
“Marby Cup” to be held at Flemington Racecourse on Friday
October 12. All Maribyrnong Sports Academy students
will travel by bus to Flemington Racecourse, where they will
assemble in their year level. Our celebrity Starter will send
students on a 3km run around the Lake and down the
straight where they will cross the famous Flemington
“Finishing Line”.
Please bring along your picnic hamper and join us at
the finishing post in front of the Members Stand.
Please note : alcohol is not permitted.
Safety concerns have emerged with parents driving their cars up to the front doors of the stadium to drop
student athletes off. It appears to be a particular issue during early morning training.
The concourse area at the front of the stadium is a heavy pedestrian traffic area and must not be used for
vehicle traffic EXCEPT authorised vehicles such as School buses etc.
Please drop students at the River Street gates to avoid congestion.
If it is essential to drive into the school (injured athletes, dropping golf clubs etc.) please restrict car
movements to car park areas only which are located to the east and west of the stadium.
