PIG GIVES KUDOS
Shelly,
1. So I run into Tribe of Judah Rex Keating at church today. He tells me this little story of
what happened to him at the Harley dealer this week. Rex is the Minster for the wedding
on the front cover of this months. He went in to the Harley dealer and the salesman he
knows comes up to him. The guy asks Rex if he knew that he was on the cover of Thunder
Roads this month. Rex said “yeah, cool huh.” The hands Rex a copy and says that he had
been saving it for him all month. Rex tells him he already had a copy. The asks him how
did he get one and Rex tells him that he knows Pig.
“You know the PIG”, the guy says “Oh wow, that is so cool. Hey tell him to stop by some
time I’d love to meet him.” So Rex tells him “Dude, he comes in here at least 2x’s a month”
2. Every time someone asks Deneen (the bride on the cover) who is that bride on the
cover, she squeals in a high pitched voice “That’s MEEEEEEEEEEE! It is so funny to
hear her do that!
Just thought you would like to know people really do like the work that you do on the
magazine.
ROAR BY THE SHORE ANNOUNCES
MOVE TO CORPUS CHRISTI
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the group decided to bring the event to Corpus Christi for
the first time, according to a news release from the Corpus Christi Convention & Visitors
Bureau. BikeFest, a volunteer-run nonprofit, teamed up with Budweiser Corpus Christi to
bring the event, and its economic boom, to the area.
“We strive for and expect to provide the best rally experience in Texas with top notch
entertainment. October is a beautiful time of year on the Texas coast,” said G.J. Reyna,
BikeFest organizer.
Corpus Christi was selected in part because the statewide draw has participants coming
from Houston, Austin and San Antonio and the drive to the coast is particularly scenic,
organizers said.
The visitor’s bureau projects the benefit as $5.8 million based on expenses for hotels,
restaurants and retail spending, The group also has donated more than $700,000 to
charities and nonprofits during the past 19 years.
“It’s up to our community to welcome participants and make them feel at home so we can
make Corpus Christi their permanent base,” said Keith Arnold, CEO of the Convention &
Visitor’s Bureau.
The event, planned for Oct. 11-13, is sponsored locally by L&F Distributing and will include
field riding events, motorcycle tours, bike contests, a sunset parade and concert, according
to the news release. Many of the events will be held at the American Bank Center.
EDITOR’S NOTE: While not everyone is thrilled and rumors abound as to other reasons
for the move, we know that our biker community will rally around the location, filling it with
roaring pipes and brotherhood.
