Statement
Since becoming a full-time librarian at UCLA Biomedical Library in June 2011, I’ve felt so
lucky to have a great resource like LAUC-LA to help me connect with my new colleagues, both
at UCLA and beyond, and keep me informed with informational sessions and the helpful website.
As a member of the LAUC Committee on Programs, I have had the opportunity to participate in
planning events that I hope have been memorable for LAUC-LA members.
I am honored to be nominated to represent LAUC-LA at the statewide level as your Statewide
Representative. As a Statewide Representative, I would work to represent UCLA librarians not
only at the Assembly, but throughout the year. Based on the recommendations of previous
representatives, I would work to promote more communication and outreach, especially by using
web tools and social media. My philosophy is to strive to continuously evolve, both personally
and professionally, and I think libraries likewise need to embrace this spirit of openness to new
possibilities, particularly in these times of change. I am excited about the opportunity to be more
actively involved with shaping the library’s future through involvement with LAUC and LAUC-
LA.
