Project Leader in Grid Responsive Energy Efficient Networked Homes (GREEN HOME), <strong>FTW</strong><br />
collaborative project<br />
The Project GREEN HOME (Grid Responsive Energy Efficient Networked Home) was a national<br />
collaborative application-oriented research project (<strong>FTW</strong>, 4 industrial partners, one university,<br />
~900 kEuro budget) focusing on energy management in the home environment (home micro-grid)<br />
with the responsive flexible demand based on (1) advanced ICT technology (e.g., home gateway,<br />
service platform, intelligent appliances, in-home networking, smart metering, and technology for<br />
pervasive user engagement) for realization of smart home energy management, (2) smart metering<br />
and demand response concepts for flexible responsive loads, and (3) simulation and experimental<br />
methodology for quantitative evaluation of new load flexibilization scenarios.<br />

The Celtic Project Next Generation Home (GENIO) was a European collaborative research project<br />
that developed and demonstrated advanced technologies for home networking and management of<br />
heterogeneous home services and devices. <strong>FTW</strong> provided a concept and implementation of the<br />
autonomous energy management based on semantic technology and smart plugs which was<br />
integrated within the home service platform and demonstrated at Celtic Event in 2011. The local<br />
GENIO activities were supported by the GREEN HOME project.<br />

Project Co-leader and Activity Leader in SESAME: Semantic Smart Metering; Enablers for Energy<br />
Efficiency, funded by Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG)<br />
The project SESAME was an international collaboration project (partners from Austria, Russian<br />
Federation, Serbia) with special focus on application of Semantic Web technologies in engaging<br />
end consumers in energy efficient and low carbon consumption. It developed a flexible technical<br />
solution that integrates various home sensors (light, temperature, humidity), home automation<br />
control, touch screen display, a smart meter, and a software platform for home energy control based<br />
on semantic modeling of user energy consumption preferences and home management policies and<br />
semantic reasoning. The system actively assists end-consumers in making well-informed decisions and<br />
performs control of the system.<br />

Activity Leader in SESAME-S: Semantic Smart Metering; Services for Energy Efficiency, funded by<br />
Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG)<br />
The project SESAME-S (SESAME follow-up) had a special focused on energy data integration for<br />
add-value data-intensive services. One particular special interest of SESAME-S is to understand and<br />
exploit the benefits of linked open (energy and economic) data and data integration in mobilizing<br />
different stakeholders to contribute to energy efficiency goals. The project also set up several realworld<br />
energy management trials at partner premises including a school and a factory. The installation<br />
and evaluation of the SESAME-S management system in the school “HAK Kirchdorf“ are performed

as tasks within an energy-awareness lecture specially designed by <strong>FTW</strong> through which the user<br />
requirements are collected and school children are involved in the topic and the trial.<br />

In 2010 I continued education in the field of energy economics and information economics at the TU Wien. My field of<br />
interest is analysis of new energy market concepts, contracts and policies to facilitate zero carbon society, energy<br />
efficiency through load flexibilization, integration of renewable energy sources and integration of distributed<br />
renewable energy in the Smart Grid. I am enrolled in the PhD focusing on energy economics, energy modelling and<br />
analysis, regulation and markets, profitability calculation in the energy industry, macroeconomic modelling and<br />
econometrics, computational economics.<br />
